Adrian Smith ASAP Silver and Gold Japan pressing

Adrian Smith atau H.
Aku rasalah, kalo nak beri gelaran Mr Cool, aku rasa dia ni paling layak.

- salah satu anggota sebuah band yang terbaik, terunggul dan paling tersangat best giler dalam sejarah muzik dunia iaitu Iron fuckin Maiden baby.
- terror giler ngan gitar. Boleh nangis.
- pandai giler cipta lagu macam2 style.
- HANDSOME giler.
- Dressing paling stylo.
- Pandai main tennis.
- I THINK HE IS SOMEONE WHO CAN STAND UP TO STEVE HARRIS for the good of Iron Maiden. Although I dont think he will ever leave Maiden again.

Jadi ni dia punye cd dia buat ngan kawan2 dia masa Iron Maiden tengah rehat selama setahun dalam tahun 1989 dulu.

As I am typing this, I was wondering the Urchin She's A Roller 7 inch is hitting crazy price. ( Yes, the Urchin song featured on the 12 Wasted Years videotape and I think the Early Days dvd if I can recall. )

So this is my review of Adrian Smith and Project ( ASAP ) Silver And Gold cd from back in 1989 when Maiden took a year off.

- Adrian Smith writting, playing and singing melodic rock or pop-rock or whatever you want to call it.
- He always has a wonderful voice, from Reach Out to ASAP to Untouchables to the one of the most standout moments on the soundtrack of Flight 666 i.e Wasted Years.
- Some of the members of ASAP are names that Maiden fans are familiar with, members of the band URCHIN. They appeared a bit on the videotape of 12 Wasted Years, Entire Population of Hackney bootleg, songwriter for some Maiden Bsides etc.
- The drummer is the son of Ringo Starr from the Beatles.

- Some great songs, some nice songs that reminds me of one the best bands ever, TOTO.The Lion, Silver And Gold, Down The Wire, You Could Be A King, After The Storm, Misunderstood, Fallen Heroes, Wishing Your Life Away, Blood On The Ocean.
Ermmm.. that makes it 9 out 10 songs that I like :-)
Unfortunately the packaging of the cd is what I dont like, scroll end of post to know why.

One other song Kid Gone Astray is so Bryan Adam, not bad actually.
- The keyboards makes all the difference, just like TOTO, the touches is fantastic especially when they appear when you never expect it.
A great example is on The Lion 1:15minute mark.
Always uplift me everytime.

A nice album, and I wonder how much the impact of this project cause Adrian Smith to withdraw from Iron Maiden at the start of recording NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING album.
But then he had contributed Hooks In You. A song that is often link up to the rest of the Charlotte The Harlot legacy.
But thats all in the past, happy days since 1999, Adrian always contribute spectacularly to Maiden's cause now.. from songwritting to great studio and live performances.
And from what I read about En Vivo with all the Adrian Smith touches here and there... I cant wait.

Ooo and I think I am going to have the withdrawal symptom again till I got my hands on EN VIVO.

The Japanese pressing has of course the additional inlet sheet with Japanese lyrics and what I think seems additional infos.
Two things I dont like about the ASAP Silver And Gold packaging,
the silhouette of the female and also the lyrics are damn small, and lack colour contrast to the background, I dont bother to ever read the lyrics.

kau bayarlah berapa-berapa - Amy Search newspaper article.

Sebenarnya... aku ngah withdrawal symptom ni, En Vivo belum sampai2 lagi.
Aku tahu la official release date besok, tapi ramai orang dah ada kat UK ceritanya
.
Siap ada pegi kedai pujuk penjual jual kat dorang sembunyik2 sebelum jualan rasmi.
Satu je aku nak cakap dari apa aku baca kat internet - Dari sapa dah tengok dan dah dengar, En Vivo ni spectacular dan sound amazing. Kevin Shirley memang pandai produce sound live Maiden kot.

Anyway... ni satu artikel keluar kat suratkhabar melayu singapura hari Ahad lepas. Berita Minggu.

Padahal its a fund raising activity.
Apa pun Amy Search lagi keluar artikel ngan pamparan positif.

Maka, beliau pun telefon seorang artis wanita.

Amy hanya beritahu: 'Kau bayar sajalah berapa-berapa.'

Saya percaya Amy tentu tahu nilai dirinya.

SO WHILE WAITING FOR EN VIVO, I TRY TO CALM MYSELF DOWN WITH ADRIAN SMITH'S ASAP , and it seems to work :-)

metal hammer April 2012 magazine - Maiden delightssss...

aloha. Amacam semua. dah makan?

I think Metal Hammer April 2012 is a good buy. So I bought one yesterday at the friendly Indian Uncle newspaper/magazine stall at Bugis junction. A pleasant surprise as its only out in UK.
Before opening the plastic wrapper, one side looks like this.

The other side is like this.

Because it has a seperate 24 page magazine devoted to Iron Maiden with En Vivo releases coming soon. Mostly nice photos, some facts, infos related to the last tour.

Some of the photos are familiar already, I think this Steve Harris super photo in the snow of Moscow is the exact one from the McMurtrie photo book. I dont know. Cannot really remember.

On the main magazine, you have the En Vivo review,

also Adrian Smith's Primal Rock Rebellion is featured on about 4 pages.

Interestingly its not only Maiden related thingys that caught my eye, but also I like the other articles.

So I got to read about Ghost, I think whoever first saw on youtube one of their early performances in Sweden will maybe like me, curious on what this Ghost is all about. But now I think they are popular in the rock world.

So we got other things, King Diamond makes a nice reading after all his health medical problems and being Metal Hammer its all colour and bright and fancy with dozens of nice read and lots of photos to ogle on haha.

Lastly, I am like curious always reading on the internet about this rock festivals on cruise ships. Those 70,000 tonnes of metal cruise. So there is a nice article on this too.

dah tu je nak borak. thats all.

Yantzen & Bandi Amuk & Yakamashii Live Singapore 06/08/2005 Bootleg

Tu hari kat kerja, kawan aku cakap nanti Rusty Blade nak buat full show 2012 ni, satu problem aku ngan show Melayu ialah aku tahu lambat dan harap orang bilang. Kalo show omputeh at least aku tahu macam dari blabbermouth atau newspaper.
So harap Rusty Blade show aku dapat pergi la kejap ( key word kejap ok, chop chop datang timing just nice nak tengok bands aku suka je perform, horray horray kejap, terus balik haha ), kalo tak clash apa2 hal lain.
Bila last aku tengok Rusty Blade main live?
Giler lama dah...Awal tahun2 2000.
So its nice to revisit some of their wonderful songs played live by the legends themselves.

Anyway, bongkar2, aku jumpa lagi satu show zaman batu dulu yang aku tape so skarang aku free sikit, so aku share la.
Sound jangan expect macam Roxette 2012 aku rakam tu hari, tapi ok la, dan pada aku its more for its historical value dan jugak kenangan.

REVIEW
( the sound improves as this set progress.. )

Yantzen dan Bandi main a short set ngan kalo aku tak salah , aku tak silap, ngan band Yakamashii.

Yantzen ngan Taming Sari was like awesome. I remember I really like his performance for this song.
Yantzen cakap pasal starting Rusty Blade dan zaman awal dorang, pasal Enam Jahanam which is the Semangat Zaman lineup, pasal apa2 je la.
out of topik kejap - DID I TELL I TAPED THE WHOLE 4 Hours Semangat Zaman includes the opening bands show in Singapore during that period? Reeha Rosli Mohalim bawak Burn semua tu jam. Agyptie bawak Dajal? dah ingat2 lupa malam tu.

Bandi standard, ni show ada " kalau anda gembira tepuk tangan " nye crowd participation. Kelakar la dia. " kalau anda gembira jerit Siti ". Nanti la aku gi korek show Amuk in full dorang main kat Pasir Ris aku tape, tu show dia sua nyanyi ' cinta ku bukan di atas kertas ' nye lagu tu. Zaman Hakikat..2003 gitu la, dah lama eh.. Fabulous times for a Amuk listener then haha. Kalo jumpa la...

As usual its all here - http://www.youtube.com/user/tempehasuka666/videos

tapi tunggu about 30 mins la kasi aku upload kat youtube.
Aku ingat nak winrar, korang nak dengar dalam bas, masa jalan kaki senang, nanti la aku winrar show wings headlining ni festival nanti. Yang tu sound baik sikit seingat aku.

p.s - Aku perasan dah lama aku tak cerita pasal cd2 band rock melayu yang baru.
Especially cd2 band rock buat sendiri , finance sendiri.
Last Silksutra punye cd. Dah lama tu.
Nanti aku ceta pasal PROPHECY lak. Depan album cover ada motor besar tu.

So this is it, Roxette March 6 , 2012 Live In Singapore full audio and I had winrar it for convenience of everyone. I tend to unwinrar often but I dont do the winrar much so hope it works haha.
I hope the sound is not that bad for those Roxette fans interested.
But trust me its a great show. The Look with a bit of Hey Jude and did I hear a Layla in Listen To Your Heart.

ebayism,metalhammerism, dreamthearism, rainboworchestratributism etc etc

Banyak benda nak borak borak..

Firstly, still havent partition the Roxette show,( please wait for those who want the full winrar version ) the more I hear it, the more I love it. Yes, I am bias, I really like Roxette.

Secondly
I was browsing thru ebay looking for some maiden related stuff that may catch my eye, and look what I found.

A Canadian seller selling his/her Maiden fanclub magazine, but using a photo from this blog, with this blog watermark on it.
Canada is a far away land is all I can say haha...

Thirdly,
still Maiden related..
April edition of Metal Hammer will have a 24 page Maiden pull out.
This is a scan taken from a post by Nobby666 in the Maiden forum of the what I think is the backcover of that issue.

Fourth.
dream theater is now announced as coming to Singapore.
I think originally it was just Jakarta, but now it includes Bangkok too.
For the Singapore, the location is stated as Kallang Theater.
Just for the location itself makes me want to go and anyway, its been very long since I last saw them play.
I saw the first time DT play here at Indoor Stadium ( the Ocatavium one ) but missed out on the Fort Canning show in the falling rain ( Systematic Chaos one right?? ).
So it should be just nice to see them again , especially with a new drummer and a happier band?

Fifth.
There is this bootleg that I just discovered.. and I was listening to it a bit and I found it great but touching and makes me a bit sad.
Its a tribute to Rainbow with New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and Joe Lynn Turner doing the vocals and he did a few numbers of Ronnie James Dio and Graham Bonnet era songs besides his own set of Rainbow songs.
WEISS HEIM is one of those performance that really makes me a bit sad like I said.
Rainbow, never seen them, but I really really freaking love them haha.

Files: 14. :: Size: 213.99 MB (mp3) 573 MB (flac).
Total Time: 01:33:34 hour/s.
Notes: It was an impossible fantasy... Mr.Masaya "yasu" Yasue at NJP had this dream for a long time. Finally he made it came TRUE. August 4 Joe Lynn Turner and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra teamed up for Symphonic Rainbow Concert called "Tribute to Rainbow."

The world famous Japanese hard rock-heavy Metal magazine BURRN! carried special articles of the One Night "dream" concert for three successive months. The venue, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space "Tokyo-Geijyutsu-Gekijyo," is such a beautiful space where there are three sizes of symphonic halls. The Tribute to Rainbow took place in Main Hall where there were about 2000 seats for the audience members. On the front of the stage there is a pipe organ having 126 stops. This is a full-scale concert hall for orchestral performances.

The program had two parts. It had a 20 minute intermission. The first part centered around orchestra sounds with instrumental and slow ballads. Joe put so much feeling into what he sung. His voice was bluesy and just magnificent. Especially, Tchaikovsky's From Overture "1812" op.49 was so marvelous. They called this tune the memory of Mr.Cozy Powell. That's true. Tympanis went off at hall just like a loud report of Cannon. Cozy's memorial pictures reflected on the wall of main hall.

After the interval, the 2nd part had come. Please see the Set List! You'll realize that it was just for Joe Lynn Turner time. It started with the very famous classic march number Elgar's March "Pomp and Circumstance" No.1 op.39." The concert master Mr.Yasushi Toyoshima was just delightful. Many hard rock-heavy metal fans who had not listened to classic music said to me that it was a very moving sound! So we were very impressed with Mr.Toyoshima! As same time, I felt this tune was there just for Joe Lynn Turner. It was the opening number for Joe Lynn's Rainbow songs!!.<-(Info taken from joelynnturner.com).

last but not least...
since we talk about bootleg, and Ronnie James Dio, and this is a show that has full MAGICA on it ( i hope so because physically I havent hear this bootleg completely yet ) including the best of the best tearjerking ballad As Long As Its Not About Love.
Osaka 2000.

after this, I hope to talk about the Roxette bootleg that I did haha, unless I screw it all up.

roxette - 06 march 2012

my short review and observation of Roxette Live Singapore Indoor Stadium 6 March 2012.
Like Judas Priest few weeks back, lots of my personal favourites were not played tonight by Roxette but still the setlist was awesome enough.

1. Dressed For Success
2. Sleeping In My Car
3. The Big L
4. Wish I Could Fly
5. Stars
6. She's Got Nothing On ( But The Radio )
7. Perfect Day
8. Things Will Never Be The Same
9. It Must Have Been Love
10. 7twenty7
11. Fading Like A Flower
12. Crash!Boom!Bang!
13. How Do You Do
14. Dangerous
- Band Presentation & Blue Swede Sex Machine
15. Joyride ( introduced with Singapura, Sunny Island guitar solo )

16. Spending My Time
17. The Look

18. Listen To Your Heart
19. Church Of Your Heart

- Surely this is my favourite show of the year. Roxette and with a setlist like above its just splendid. Though no Harley and Indians, no Paint, no Silver Blue, no June Afternoon, no lots of other personal favourites.

- They move the stage further up so the whole Indoor Stadium is not fully utilised like Iron Maiden for example. It do make the show seems like more than 90% full. 6500-7000? about that I think.

- The crowd seemingly majority in the ages of 30s, 40s and 50s.
People who grow up with great and best music on the radio or cassette tapes irregardless of musical genre or taste.

- No Intro Music. Lights Out and straight to Dressed For Success.
- Seven members. Per & Marie, a backup female singer, drummer who is with them from the 80s, on keyboards is their producer with a new hat, the bassist who spoke about Sweden and his Blue Swede Sex Machine and a rocking guitarist.

- The sound was good, but at the start I was wishing it to be so much louder, this is Roxette. Fortunately for me the sounds gets a bit louder by second song, the all time favourite Sleeping In My Car.
- I guess my positioning plays a part, I bought the ticket late, a peasant ticket on top of that. So I was like kind of far. I should have find a way to get those floor front seats very early on. Maybe next time.

- The audience was LOUD. Fantastic especially with the great noise made while waiting for the band to reappear for the encores.

- Great songs one after another from the start although the slow numbers in the first part of the show Wish I Could Fly and Perfect Day dampens my mood a bit because I was eager for Roxette's faster songs. Great songs but it disturb my own momentum as a live music fan. But I really like Marie and Per singing duet for Things Will Never Be The Same and after that I can accomodate the rest of the slower songs till the end.
- The new song She Got Nothing On is very rocking live.

- Crowd participation is at maximum, without much prompting needed, lots of chances for the audience to sing on behalf of the band, from the slow It Must Have Been Love to Joyride to How Do You Do and most of the others..

- 7twenty7 ending reminds me of the Deep Purple / Rainbow keyboards and guitars alternate solos. The Roxette guitarist is all over the stage. Great rocking showmanship. His guitar solo of " Singapura, Singapura, Sunny Island " is enjoyable.

- Band introduction and this is a bit of what the bassist have to say -
"So let me tell you about Sweden, Its Small, Its Cold, Its Dark, But It Got Love..."
and he plays some effects and sounds from his Blue Swede Sex Machine.

- Per said something like " very basic in life, just one chord, C Major " and Per starts How Do You Do.
- Basically most songs are very happening as the crowd makes the difference. I was afraid the crowd would be dead, especially on a weekday, but I was very very wrong. I guess most in the crowd are huge Roxette fans.

- During The Look, I was like reminded of Def Leppard. Its that the inspiration for this song.

- Last song Church Of Your Heart, the band performed in a row, the keyboardist played an acoustic guitar and the drummer was together upfront with a tambourine.
- I did an audio bootleg of the show for my own memory. Seems ok quality from my own point of view, I'll see how it goes and will upload maybe next week latest.

- Like I say, I think this is my show of the year. Its Roxette.

outrage - rise and shine live!

Masalahnya, rock jepun ni susah aku nak nak tahu perkembangan. Tu pun to-tet-let aje. Dulu2 zaman tok kadok, sebelum zaman YOUTUBE, aku ada buat kawan internet ngan satu orang Jepun ni, makdatok, dia punye bootlegs rok jepun giler babi, semua main dvdr je dok, pelik2 macam Loudness Dragon kat Belgium ambik dari balcony atas, EZO dari tepi la, apa la..
Ada la dia sedekah kat aku sikit. Best zaman dulu buat kawan sama minat satu dunia.
Sekarang, zaman Youtube, dah tak thrill dah nak snail mail buat kawan ni semua.
Apa yang dulu punye giler nak carik, skarang masuk youtube aje...selalunye dah ada. Selalunya la, tapi aku rasa banyak jugak kot tak wujud lagi bentuk youtube.

So ni Outrage nye live double cd bertajuk ' rise and shine 'untuk tour latest album dorang RISE yang dah basi pun haha. Dah suka, apa nak buat, terkopak siak beli kejadah ni.

my merapek meraban review.
I like the last Outrage studio album RISE. certainly Heavy Metal with their usual dosage of Thrash here and there. Many nice songs. Some great songs. Guitar solos short and long.

Recorded at Kawasaki Club Citta 2010/5/1. My understanding at this specific show they played a very long set with 26 songs???. But on this cd there is 22.
But I have no complains. The whole RISE is here live and their popular live songs.

Stage banter between songs are all in Japanese, and I dont mean to offend but hearing the studio versions I already have a problem understanding what the singer is singing, hearing the live version, is even more near impossible.
Ya Ya, I know as if my English in this blog is also easily understandable haha.

Their cover of Slowly But Surely leads me to like finding more of the Japanese 70s Psychedelic rock band Flower Travellin Band.

CD1 - 10 songs Rise is complete, with TOR even. Interesting to compare the songs from Rise to Until You Are Dead, from Fists Full Of Sand to Terrorizer studio and official live versions.

CD2 - 12 songs. Fang, Madness, Final Day, Call Of The Hunter, Deadbeat etc etc are all in there of course. Fast and heavy.
Very nice. Makes me very happy and smile by myself when walking and taking the train haha.
Step By It is also in there - and when the part this song slows down a little for the solos.... I like.

There is a dvd documentary released for this tour to support RISE also. I think dvd 1 is a Japanese speaking documentary of their travels and backstage all over Japan, but I think there is a 2nd dvd with many songs from different locations all over Japan. I really want this dvd. Japanese bands live shows in Japan always look very happening on dvds and it must be nice to see all over Japan scene even just on dvd. But, Super expensive. Maybe next time.

So, with Outrage coming out with Rise and Rise and Shine Live that I really enjoy,
I dont think I am missing out by not bothering to hear St Anger, Death Magnetic and Lulu. sad but true.

The Obi Strips is always forever cute.
