3 things on Iron Maiden - Death/Near Future/Finally.

I think this is going to be a long post with lots of pics.

1) Been listening to a lot of Clive Burr last two weeks, after he died
I cramped my mp3 player with all the official Clive Burr releases with Maiden...
The studio albums, the singles with the bsides songs which are fantastic really, ooo and Live In Hammersmith double cd which is part of the Eddie Archives boxset. Stunning play by him on this live album, especially as during that time TNOTB album was not released yet when they record this live show...so the audience was practically hearing many songs for the first time in their lives and its played live. That must have been an awesome feeling.

And speaking of death, Iron Maiden tour staff and also ex drum tech for Nicko McBrain had passed away too. Steve Gadd or Gaddsy.
Its like a double blow for Maiden definitely. Clive Burr and Gaddsy.


2) Metal Hammer Magazine April 2013 issue is packed with Maiden articles..
Maiden on the cover jacket, Maiden cover on the actual magazine, lots and lots of Maiden.

I guess its all about celebrating the release of the official cd and dvd of Maiden England 1988, and also celebrating Iron Maiden headlining with  the similar theme history tour in Castle Donington Park Download Festival. British and world's finest, headlining at a historic English concert location.
This is certainly going to be a huge occasion really...
Especially with the loss of Clive Burr and Steve Gadd, Maiden will certainly play a blinder.

Can sense a bit of stress coming especially on
reading this below article haha.

I dont know why, but its seems the rest of  of the world had got their tickets delivered but not me....
I hope I can settle this problem....

Or else if I really managed to travel, and arriving at Donington with 100,000 fans, and what can I do without a ticket?
I hope I dont panic, got to check this problem out.

But still, I have not even see my work roster, had not even applied for leave.
Have not check among my colleagues to cover me.
Thousand things can go wrong...
Anything practically.

I can just prepare to the best of my ability and hope all will be well...



3) and last... ok I finally got my copy of the Maiden England 1988 release on double cd and double dvd.
I just rip both cds. So I can listen to it while walking and talking public transport....
But I dont know when I can check out both dvds, it going to be awesome definitely...

Maybe I'll write about these releases sooner or later.

Complete bootleg of Kembara's reunion for those interested is youtbeded

Seeing one of Malay's language most legendary band reunion of Kembara featuring members from the original line-up and the 2nd line-up all on-stage playing a full 150mins show is a dream come true for many. My review of the show is on the previous blog-post.

Was it like 30 years since the original line up was around, and at least more that 25 years since the 2nd line-up?
Its an honour to see all of them together on stage and play, and they are really superb songwriters, musicians, singers, and live performers.

I bootlegged it for my own personal enjoyment but until an official triple cd of the complete show comes out ( hopefully ) and a dvd, this is for those who were not there but would love to get an idea of the show.
(its an all seater posh concert hall, so I cant manuever much, if you are not used to low quality fan audience audio bootlegs, dont bother to listen)

Esplanade staff had really done great all these years by having among others Sweet Charity celebrates their 40th anniversary show and also Lovehunters final concert, and now Kembara reunion.

I wonder if they had ever enquired about Flybaits, another Malay-language band that was famous household name back then. At least some of them are still big names making the news with their works. Now that would be another blockbuster event.

Kembara = M Nasir, A Ali, S Sahlan, Zoul, Rahmat, Md Shah, Shahrom live on stage kat Esplanade Concert Hall Singapura 30/03/2013.
Untuk aku sendiri yang tak follow up sangat berita persiapan show ni cuma beli tiket, ambik leave, dan terus buat bodoh sua sampai hari show, surprise giler la bila tengok original Kembara A Ali dan S Sahlan was on stage for the full 2hr 30mins show.

Kalau Iron Maiden tak main kat sini tahun ni, aku rasa takde pesaingan la untuk "show of the year".

2 Jam 30 minit.  Dahsyat sey show, but at the same time no Malam, no Ada Sepasang Mata etc. The abundance of good songs they have.

ok, ni beberapa benda yang tarik perhatian aku..

- Dorang pakai 3rd guitarist extra tapi Zoul ngan A Ali kongsi lead , solos.
- Ada percussionist extra.
- Two keyboards dan guna grand piano untuk some songs.
- Drummer Shahrom ngan bassist Rahmat was awesome la pada aku, so was Zoul and A Ali. A Ali kalau solo je mesti dapat tepukan gemuruh.
- S Sahlan's voice was superb. So was A Ali and Zoul. Dorang nyanyi lead vocals untuk some of the songs. Bunga Bakawali Zoul nyanyi lead, Puduraya A Ali nyanyi lead, Impian Seorang Nelayan S Sahlan lead singer etc. Lain mostly M Nasir, tak yah cerita la M Nasir ni, dia memang bagus.
-  Starting was a video showing S Amin Shahab buat lukisan seni gitu.
- Sound dari 1st song dah best, Esplanade, memang expected la tempat ni kan.
- Banyak kelakar2 la, stage banters dorang, M Nasir yang do most of the talking pun, dorang gurau2 lawak gitu eg Puduraya etc. Audience pun sporting.
- Lepas Bunga Bakawali, a short video showing S Amin Shahab berbual pasal Kembara, then short video dari Polygram nye boss ke hapa ntah, dia cakap dulu dorang memang nak Kembara jadi "Malay Music First Intellectual Band".
- Then there was another short video clip showing some stories and infos dari Zoul, Rahmat, Shahrom, Md Shah.
- Ada beberapa lagu guna accoustic guitars Zoul dan A Ali, dan jugak grand piano - ...Ibu, ....Ana, ....Kekasih. Lain semua karen all the way.
- Ada lagu seret ngan jams dan solos - Hati Emas, Perjuangan, Gerhana..etc
- Some nice audience participations ala Running Free hehe.
- Intros dan background info untuk sebahagian lagu - M Nasir cakap pasal penjara etc ooo not forgetting MAT KOTAI. Dah berzaman aku tak dengar ni word Mat Kotai sey. Ni word lama ni.
- Balanced set list, fast songs slow songs, songs not about love, songs about love.
- Perhentian Puduraya ni memang lagu sedih la kan, also M Nasir cakap lagu Kepada Mu Kekasih ni lagu 'awet muda' pasal dah puluhan tahun tapi orang masih suka.
- Gerhana siap dorang speed-up dan slowdown kat last part, kecoh sey ni band.
- I think the show is full house. The ticket pricing is very very reasonable for a legendary band at a top-notch place.
- There was some banters at the end of the show about another show next year haha.
- What else? Aku rasa mesti keluar dvd la, ni Esplanade shows ni dorang siap camera sana sini, jadi aku rasa Kembara Ekpres Rakyat reunion ni mesti ada dvd ikut style Sweet Charity 40 Years dan Lovehunters nye final concert. Aku harap ni show release official triple cd of the whole performance.
Dulu M Nasir pernah keluar triple vcd kan yang Gembala nye show tu. Tu memang packaging best giler siap setiap packaging dia sign, jarang music melayu keluar ni triple triple disc versions.
- Nanti la kalau aku senang dan takde apa terpeleot, aku upload bootleg ni show kalau sapa berminat, aku kumpul untuk koleksi peribadi aku buat kenangan je dan dengar balik kadang2.

Epok-Epok Sadin ("Sardine Currpuff")

Ada macam2 epok-epok,

Kentang, Sardin, Keledek, Sayur, etc... Epok2 sayur ni kira makin rare..

Tapi kan, aku ada pelik sikit, kalau aku tengok kat gerai, atau kat kedai, epok-epok tu cantikkk je, elok je...,
aku tak beli.

Tapi kalo epok-epok tu macam senget2, tak cantik, kadang2 retak2 boleh nampak isi dalam,
kira senang cakap epok-epok tu bentuk TERPELEOT..

hah aku akan beli, dan selalu nya tu la epok2 yang gerek.
Baik dia punya kulit, dan isi dia.

Ni, kat pasar malam aku beli... Epok-Epok Sardine. Sedap sey.

This is called Epok-epok among the malay community in Singapore and southern part of Peninsular Malaysia like Johor. It can have different fillings like potatoes or sardines or beansprouts etc.
Elsewhere, I guess most of the Malay community called it Karipap, which is literally a direct translation of Currypuff.
It does provide a sense of weirdness and some laughter when you're in Kuala Lumpur or other parts of Malaysia and you asked for Epok-epok and the seller looks at you weird like you speak "alien" language.

High On Fire - De Vermis Mysteriis

Dulu bila aku tengok ni band naik pentas aku tak tahu apa nak jangka, aku tak pernah dengar lagu dorang, tak tahu pun dorang berapa anggota, kira memang tak tahu apa2 la,
sekali tu tengok, ok, 3 anggota, gitaris jugak tukang nyanyi.
Hah kau! bila dorang mula main je ternaik bulu kening aku,
Hebat dan mengasyikkan, aku yang cuma nak tengok2 je dorang main sambil tunggu giliran band2 yang aku memang tunggukan, terus teruja dan fokus. Kecoh giler gitaris/penyanyi dia. Pa Ka Liao, dah la berlengeng tak pakai baju.
Apapun, ni band kira ada macam campur perasa Slayer + Motorhead, bila laju memang ribut,tapi kadang2 bila dorang perlahankan muzik dorang, sedap berdengung je gitu.

This is a quite recent and latest release by High On Fire.
- De Vermis Mysterius.
Seems its translated as Mystery of the Worm. This is a concept album.
Related to works by the Physcho writer, HP Lovecraft works-(Call of) Chtulu etc.
High On Fire, especially Matt Pike (guitarist/vocalist) is an eye opener for me, as I have not heard of them until I see them play live. It was very impressive and enjoyable.
Fast, loud, yet melodic.
I wonder how they are not that bigger and more famous.

So I was taken by surprise among all the beautiful organised ruckus of the first few songs, track no 5 SAMSARA slows down to what reminds me of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter. Moody.

Anyway, I cant get the melody line of Kings Of Days out of my mind. It leaves a lump in my throat, this song.. All 7 minutes of it...

Anyway, I dont know much, but I think High On Fire could be the best metal band from America right now and I hope to see them play again, and this this time I want to be nearer to the stage haha.

Wings at Istana Budaya KL 2013

ku kejar engkau disana, ku lambai wajah serupa..
selalu aku terbayang..., selalu aku terkenang..

biarpun telah berlalu, wajah usia berbeza...
namun tak pernah dihati..., sesaat aku terlupa..

Aku sms Zan, (pasal rumours 80% setlist lagu jarang main atau mungkin tak pernah main,) so,  aku bilang Zan, kalau Wings bawak lagu Suara Kita ni, aku nangis kot haha. Seriously korang, Bazooka Penaka nye cd is stupendous dari mula lagu pertama sampai kalo dapat melahap burger alangkah indahnya last song...

ok untuk yang tak tahu, pasal aku pun baru tahu lepas tengok blog Zan, Wings hujung bulan April depan akan main empat malam kat Istana Budaya ngan konsep rockestra rasanya.
Yang menarik perhatian aku ialah
- aku tak pernah pegi tempat ni pun, tapi aku dah cek, ada LRT Titiwangsa tapi nak kena menapak jugak la kot 20minit gitu alahai.
- Tempat gini ada dresscode, tapi aku dah cek, anything with collar is ok, and only torn jeans is out, ok fine, not a big issue.
- aku bimbang kalau malam tu ada ramai2 Superfriends join in onstage, with all due respect, aku datang nak tengok Wings, bukan nak tengok orang lain..., tapi errrrr aku dah tercek, I believe its going to be mostly purely Wings with orchestra backing, I hope so.
- Paling problem aku dah cek, siak empat2 show dates aku kena kerja... kena ambik cuti la ni macam, tapi semangat Wings nye full show nye pasal dan 1st untuk 2013, tiket aku dah gi beli, I love Wings, always have been since their first cassette tape Bellengus.. came out in the shops even before the radio stations start to play their songs...I guess I always will.

But first, KEMBARA reunion this Saturday at the Esplanade... Its going to be a freaking king of awesomeness show.
ada yang panggil Ringgit, ada yang panggil Dolar, ada yang panggil Baht, ada yang panggil Rupiah, ini semua duit...buat orang belit...
DUIT! DUIT!!! dimana kau duit??
