Kalau aku tak tahu Iron Maiden, mungkin aku probably pilih ikut Toto.

Kalau aku kena pilih band nombor 2 kegemaran aku belakang Iron Maiden? Kadang aku pilih Rainbow, tapi kadang aku pilih Toto. Susah weiii...     Nantilah senang borak lagi..

If I dont know Iron Maiden existed, probably I would have followed Toto.

That explains it all my love for their music. A magical band , irregardless whoever is performing on these studio or live albums.

dua posting dalam tiga hari. Adakah aku sedang "back into the groove??" cehhh...Madonna sey... anggaplah tugas kat tempat kerja semua dahbis ye tak? hahah. Hari Ahad memang best kat tempat k....
walaubagaimanasekalipun,  ni kali posting rock ok, takde jiwa2 nye, takde komplen2 luahan hati nye cam berapa posting lepas... haha.

THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT "WHAT IF'S", and a bit out of topic at the end of the post.
Its a PIXAR Fantasy type of  post except for the ending of this post which is reality.
Been doing a bit of preparation, IF I can really travel to Clisson, Nantes France for Hellfest. I STILL CANNOT HAVE EVEN ANY VAGUE IDEA OR IMAGINATION how the travelling to locate this place will be like. As usual, being a frog in a well, lets just hope for the best.


Final timetable for Hellfest 2014 running order is out at last. Notable changes, I am a bit happier as a fan.

PINK highlighter means I want to 100% be there for the whole schedule of that specific band. Of course I will politely give way to all the more energetic and crazier fans of course LOL!!! 
I will politely, and quitely like RATATOUILLE stay out of trouble haha.

GREEN highlighter means, its either I have to run between two (or three stages) to see bands that I like to see (which I doubt so is possible, but I'll see how it goes), or means I take A BREAK and then seeing the band I want to see.
OOoooo BREAKS!! I got to have lots of them, I want to window-shopping and seeing all the side-shows and circuses and playgrounds at the festival. Oooo and of course people-watching!!.



20th JUNE 2014 (1st day)

- Anyway, as expected MEGADETH CANCELLED, my condolence to David Ellefson. But...How on earth do they got DARK ANGEL as REPLACEMENT!!!. Its unbelievable yet great news.

- PARADISE LOST timing is shifted but still they clash now with Soundgarden, What A Relief for me for its easier to make a choice now. TRUE BELIEF!!! LOL!!! But if there is time I want to see Soundgarden of course.
Its quite a disaster originally as Paradise Lost clash with Sharon Osbournes' BLACK SABBATH timing.

(And lets see if this IDIOT wants to sabotage Maiden again while Maiden is playing on stage. THESE COLOURS DONT RUN!!)

- I think ALL THE COMPLAINS of EMPEROR playing at the same as VREID is really taken into consideration. Now VREID is switched. But all these reschedules now means Slayer clash with Death To All for example.

- IRON MAIDEN's timing is switched also. IT SHOWS ITS NOT NECESSARY A NEED TO PLAY LAST or near to the end to make a band big. I guess its all about PRIME TIME SLOT.
I mean, Maiden is not playing on Saturday anywhere else right? in fact their next show is 4 days later, and I think they have two set of stages set-up alternating at each location on tour,
so there is no hurry for them to play early and to fly to the next next destination so I guess its all about Maiden's management asking Hellfest to give them an early timing for the best possible crowd condition?? originally they were like 2255-0055 hrs with Slayer 0100-0200 hrs.
And anyway, maybe Maiden band members go to bed early??? haha.
But that means Maiden will clash with Watain now. Ooo the horror for some people haha.

- Ahhh... So I guess ICED EARTH is the last to play for all the 3 days that I want to see instead of Opeth on another stage.
ooo please play QUESTION OF HEAVEN!!. I am so liking this pretty song and Stu Block can sing it a bit like Matt Barlow. Anyway, Iced Earth's quality, in my opinion is going down since Matt Barlow left. Sigh....

21st JUNE 2014 (2nd day)

- CLASHES LOTS OF THEM. Every person must have different headaches!!

Besides some I mentioned above, another for me -
Friday all playing at the same time triple clash of Sabaton versus Enslaved versus Electric Wizard is a nice problem.

And another nice problem is Angra versus Urfaust. I am so keen to see both actually. Many years ago, I used to have a penpal or whatever its called who sent me Angra stuff, so I got to know about them and Andre Matos, so its nice to see them play, and the other, something really weird and fascinating.

SO THERE WILL BE LOTS OF RUNNING MADLY IN THE FIELDS FOR ME HAHAHAHAHAH.

22nd JUNE 2014 (3rd day)

- Early playing bands, sorry for I am definitely either just on the way, or still exploring the area as a traveller, I guess I wont be coming to Hellfest again (unless Maiden plays there again with another awesome incredible list of other bands playing like this year), so I want to check out the area surrounding it, or even stay back in Nantes, sightseeing this city till the afternoon.

Been to Download Donington, and Soundwave, but definitely Hellfest has the more significant interesting bands for me.
I have never been keen on too much labelling or emphasising of genres in regards to rock or metal bands. As all things in life, Humans like to make it complicated, and that includes micro-genre-ing rock/metal music to such specific details nowadays which personally misleads me most times.
As long as its interesting, thrilling, attractive, nice and pleases me, then I will like it irregardless of anything else.

OK, now... lets talk about the BEST BAND IN THE WORLD THAT IS NOT PLAYING AT HELLFEST 2014.
TOTO it is...

Just got their Blue-ray disc Live in Poland for their 35th Anniversary.

If Iron Maiden do not release a live video this year (I hope its the Donington 2013 show), then this new TOTO live video is hands down best live video of the year.

Allow me a few days, to find some time at home to watch this video. Then I'll review it. LOL!!

There are some guys who already upload footages at youtube, but still this is live dvd/blue ray/album to buy the original and marvel at this band and all who had ever performed for this band.

TWO TOTO performers had now PASSED AWAY,
also I think Mike Porcaro is completely bed-ridden due to ALS Lou Gehrig Disease, but still TOTO flame keep burning...

I watched in awe at this video. ITS HAPPINESS!!! and the ending... is simply breathtaking.

Rendah diri statement2 dari dia, mungkin perangai dia cam gitu, dan mungkin segala musibah yang berlaku kat dunia peribadi dia mahupun kerjaya dia buat dia macam gini.

Aku suka.

Malah...dia punye management pun, entah eh, berhati mulia.

Hellfest terus terang nye la takde first to the barrier ni semua untuk Maiden nye headline show,

tapi bandar Belgrade nye show Serbia ada, so aku saja letak nama....

aku rasa kalau orang tanya aku untuk pilih satu je band yang terbaik aku pernah dengar,pernah tengok dorang main, dan ambik tahu hal-ehwal berita2 dorang, band yang konsisten dan mesti dah lama bertahan, aku rasa aku pilih kumpulan TOTO sebagai yang terbaik aku pernah tahu dan dorang masih wujud lagik walau satu2 anggota dan bekas anggota dah macam2 cerita....

Apa tu TOTO??
- Kat Jepun khasnya dan seluruh dunia am nya - TOTO ialah syarikat Jepun yang buat tandas dan segala alat2 berkenaan ngan tandas/jamban.Terbesar di dunia. Mungkin rumah korang atau tempat kerja korang pun tandas korang pakai jenama TOTO ni.
- Kat Singapore dan Malaysia - TOTO ni mungkin selalu dikaitkan ngan nombor ekor dan loteri atau tilam toto.
- Tetapi...Untuk pendengar lagu dan peminat muzik - TOTO ni memang world la lagu2 dorang dan memang lagu2 dorang pun tentu diputarkan di radio.

aku baca, ada pendapat cakap 95% dari penduduk dunia pernah dengar lagu TOTO, atau pun lagu dari artis2 pop, rock dan segala genre muzik lain yang anggota TOTO main secara individu didalam lagu tu atau pun tukang tulis lagu tu.
TOTO nye anggota kalau jumlahkan semua album dorang pernah main dah 2000 album dorang main dan penjualan dia ialah setengah billion.
Cammana tu setengah billion? Aku google kalau kat Amerika setengah billion cam gini - 500,000,000 albums  terjual dan kalau kira British lama setengah billion cam gini 500,000,000,000. Bapak banyak tak kira cammana la berapa banyak zero dia pun.

Contoh paling mudah dan semua orang tahu... lagu Michael Jackson "Beat It". Lagu yang mungkin satu2 nye lagu buat dia famous giler2 dan crossover kat semua orang dalam dunia ni dan jadikan Thriller jual banyak giler, paling rekod dalam sejarah.
- Jeff Porcaro main drums kat lagu ni ( Jeff Porcaro dah mati pasal dia kat rumah tengah taruk racun rampai kat pokok2 dia tetiba dia alegik tahap kronik kat kimia kat racun rampai tu sampai dia mati ). Pengganti Jeff Porcaro ialah tu Simon Philips la.
- Steve Lukather main segala gitar dan bass pun dia bolot semua.
Cuma untuk solo Quincy Jones panggil Eddie Van Halen solo kat lagu Beat It tu mungkin pasal waktu tu kumpulan Van Halen ialah hero kulit putih Amerika.
Sejarah muzik cerita pasal Eddie Van Halen yang tolong bukak peluang untuk Michael Jackson tembus pasaran besar rock kulit putih Amerika, tapi selain tu anggota2 TOTO yang sebenarnye tulang belakang lagu tu. Ni satu contoh je la...

Jadi korang, kalau lain kali TOTO datang main kat Malaysia dan Singapura, aku tak bedek, kalau tak pernah tengok dorang main, pergi tengok..jangan kesah tu tour dorang pakai sapa nyanyi lead vokals dan kalau ada sapa2 sakit ke hapa ke dorang ganti orang, tetap giler2 nye musicians semua.

- Mungkin korang rasa tak tahu sangat pasal dorang, tapi gerenti la bila dorang main lagu2 dorang, mesti korang macam " Eh!! Ni lagu aku dah dengar", atau " Eh!! ni lagu TOTO eh???"..

- Dream Theater, Mr Big dan TOTO main, dan pada aku TOTO pukul abis.  Memang Seronok sangat tengok dan dengar lagu2 dorang.

-ni lineup TOTO dari mula2 dorang muda2 dulu, aku ambik dari wikipedia.
clear jugak kalau tengok gini, ngan posisi dan tahun dorang main. Kebanyakkan kejap aje. Pasal yang asli sakit la, apa la.

penyanyi tu dorang pusing2 la, sekarang satu pun baru mati, Fergie sakit cancer. Tapi tak kesah pasal Steve Lukather memang boleh nyanyi tak jadi hal. Dan dorang boleh rotate musicians nyanyi2 semua.

-drummer, dorang maintain gitu kecuali original dah mati pun cam aku cerita kat atas.
bassist sakit la apa la, tapi studio tetap maintain orang sama.

-gitaris backup kadang2 ada kadang2 tak, tapi Tony Spinner handsome giler, suara pun sedap.

- ramai orang la dalam senarai tu, tapi core dorang sikit tetap orang lama jugak. 


Ni Tony Spinner nyanyi Cant Stop Loving You.. Sedap giler siak suara dia.. tapi dia dah tak ngan TOTO je skarang aku tengok.

Ni drummer pakai second kit kecik punye tarik pergi depan dekat sikit ngan audience.

Dorang main cam gini kat Fort Canning kan, (bassist tukar bukan si janggut ni, ni DVD Steve Lukather panggil janggut ni "one of the best bassist in the world" ke hapa ntah", semua kawan lama ni dorang,
aku tak bedek, aku cam..."giler la, terbaik la," sangat kagum persembahan dorang...  Sangat menghiburkan tak kira la untuk sapa pun tengok, dan sangat mengkagumkan jugak.

TOTO minefields 1999

I was walking and 'onboardpublictransporting' to Minefields after so long, so I want to talk cock about it and Toto in this blog.

Listening to people talking or reading  about talented brilliant musicianship, great songwriting and live performances, some band names pop up often.
Watching Mr Big and Dream Theater play live is awesome..
But watching TOTO play live is beyond imagination, I have heard and read how stupendously good TOTO is, I know their studio albums are wonderful journeys but seeing them playing live, it was more a jaw-gapping occasion really.
- Wikipedia has a good description of TOTO - "Toto is known for a musical style that combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B and jazz." PAKALIAO.


I dont know which member to look at,. And song after song played, a setlist that mostly is familiar and especially some songs that are very close to my heart. Unfortunately with the number of popular songs they have, you may end up cursing if they dont play some songs that you really love.

TOTO is a type of band that if given the opportunity I will watch everytime, but they dont seems to play much over this region. The only band that I can only say I try to catch every tour within these last twelve years?, if they play in Singapore or Malaysia that is, is Deep Purple. But of course when we talk Deep Purple, there is none a band like them ever.
 - Anyway I am so excited as not only Journey is coming confirmed under LAMC, but Lushington is bringing in Deep Purple to Singapore 2013 again with an unannouced date yet. Deep Purple is coming out with a new album soon so I guess WE WILL HEAR NEW SONGS!! and please please play Wasted Sunset.
Journey and Deep Purple... what  a start to 2013. ( Ikat perut even tighter )



Anyway, TOTO how many regular members do they have all thru the years?
And if you includes their live support band members and occasional band members. TOTO has their own tragic moments, death of their super drummer ( but replaced with Simon Philips who is awesome ), medical conditions of others, band problems
But I dont think it matters, collectively TOTO is fantastic always.
- Doesnt matter if its two guitars or one, two keyboards or one, who the lead singer is for that tour, or with male and female backing singers, who the bassist is, or the drummer has one or two drum sets for the night ha, and even who sang Africa live.

MINEFIELDS,
interesting weird fonts used for the packaging.
This is one of their more famous studio albums anyway, MINEFIELDS year 1999. This is the album with Bobby Kimball joining back as singer.
- So you have all type of songs, , but all good ones. A Musical journey.
I listen and wonder, how these group of people can make such wonderful and entertaining music.

My most favourites songs must be After You've Gone, Last Love, Mad About You, One Road, Melanie, Cruel, Better World, Caught In The Balance of course... So thats a lot of songs ha.

One irritation, when I rip the cd, the tracks is automatically labelled as per the sequence of US release. So it means the songs and the automatic titled tracks does not tally. So its kind of misleading , so you have to relabel yourself. This was a problem with Kiss Elder too. Because again different tracklist for US and rest of the world.

So there are some very popular TOTO albums, in between great songs from other albums of course.
Some people will say TOTO IV, yes...of course that has superb songs,
some say SEVENTH ONE with another lead vocals fronting,
for me, I sentimentally like their first album very much haha.

Hopefully TOTO will come again...to Singapore & Malaysia. The last time was 2006 2007.

This is a live video of Caught In The Balance ( a popular song from this Minefield album ) in 2007 Paris, this is the long tour to promote their then new album then which they also play live in Singapore and Malaysia on this tour. I remember they did Spore in 2006 and come back to KL for 2007. Bassist was different for Spore show, but other than than that its the same musicians for this tour.
I think as of right now the present TOTO, Bobby Kimball is not in, but its Joseph Williams from Seventh One album,? And David Pairch is back? and a Porcaro family is back also? Got to check on it.
Clearly age is so catching up especially for the singers from different albums.

Very Van Halen'ish song this song ? I dont know. huhu.
And what are their ages now...and they are still so entertaining, although they have to share around the singing that makes it even better. Steve Lukather, great guitars, great singing..awesome. Anyway Michael Jackson's  Beat it - Steve Lukather all guitars except Eddie Van Halen guitar solo isnt it?

Ohh anyway, if I am not wrong this video location is Zenith Paris??....OOOO another day dream of mine, to see Maiden play at this place. I heard this is a wonderful awesome memorable place to see Maiden play live? hahaha.
