six years later the blog text is still present but all the photos had dissapeared, so.. - a photo update of the Art Of Derek Riggs' Run For Cover hard cover book.

Its been more than SIX YEARS AGO since I talk cock about this book.
I realised some of you guys are still checking the posts all these years later,

UNFORTUNATELY all the photos are wiped out from original postings at ..

So one more time, a few photos from the Sold-Out Hardcover version of the Derek Riggs book which was quick to be grabbed when its first launched.
I believed the soft-covers version are still available.

But at that time, I remembered getting the Hard-Cover version and I emailed him to say I love Trooper the most, and he personalised for me my copy with a Trooper Eddie, and he got me a Trooper Print and personalised it also....

This are are some stuffs I got from him then... I remember there is a bookmark, he got me another print of the book cover and personalised it also. Kind of him. And there is the sketch printout or something...

Actually I already talked a lot about this book from the abover two links , its just that the photos are already long gone.
so these are some random photos of the pages one more time, this book is about 180 pages? or something...

I was looking at it again a few days back when I took some snapshots..

and yes, this book is still awesome...

UP THE IRONS.. UP DEREK RIGGS..

cute Russian fake PIECE OF MIND mini-lp based on the Japanese vinyl pressing.

Note - out of topic - Sadness..I am only just aware that Paul Bearer is really dead. I mean the person who plays his character is dead. Love it that Ultimate Warrior, Mankind has sent out some nice words..
Now waiting for what The UN-DER-TAKER!!! and Kane have to say.
Early 90s, the best days of entertainment wrestling... and I so miss those days..

For those curious to know how the packaging of the 2012/2013 picture disc LP release of the first 8 Maiden albums looks like,
there are two blogs whose owners are kind enough to share detailed photos of the releases from the vinyls to the gatefolds.
Visit them at
1- http://kulimat-kulimat.blogspot.sg/search/label/Iron%20Maiden
2- http://xyruszone.blogspot.sg/search/label/Iron%20Maiden
Now, as this is sort of marketed as remasterings from original master tapes or something, I am hoping they will come out with a cd version too from the same masters.
The remastered series cds from the mid 90s is a bit embarassing and horrid if you're a Maiden fan who expect basic quality control from the Maiden camp, the screw up for Powerslave on the Powerslave remastered cd was and is still making me feel nauseous. Yes, the loudness war is won, but I still cannot accept it. I still go for cd pressings from earlier ones. The only thing excellent that came out of it was the 25,000 pieces limited copy Eddie's Head or skull boxset, which yep, I still have it intact haha.
ok  got that out of the way....

now Lets talk of another issue of these beautifully crafted bootlegged pirated fakes at its most supreme awesomeness.

Piece Of Mind - Iron Maiden album no IV. The first Maiden album I ever heard.
It was a pirated cassette tape, and literally it changed my life as a frog / boy in a well.
Piece Of Mind became an inspiration that never cease till now.
- Learning the English language because I want to know what is being sung about from the pirated lyric sheets and expanding my limited vocabulary, and as I grow up reading literature, appreciate history/legends from cavemen to Musashi (the Japanese swordsman during the Samurai warriors era who first kill at 13, and not only the world war II battleships famous pair of Musashi & Yamato), Greek mythology, respecting and getting to know different religions and beliefs, hymns,  I learnt then backmasking can be plain fun and put even more doubts to those who are eager to label anything that dont suit them satanic, and of course the book Dune, and that the author of Dune - Frank Herbert is an asshole (Bruce words as heard on the bootlegs during that tour ) for not approving Maiden's request to titled To Tame A Land as Dune from which the song is based on, and also, the lobotomy of Eddie by Derek Riggs happens during this period.

A full review of what I think of the Piece of Mind album is not proper in this blog post so let us just treasure the packaging of this unauthorised release. .
.

- As usual, a similar Japanese obi strip accompanies this release of a lobotomised Eddie in a padded room, straight-jacketed, and chained and secured. Dereks Rigg book did have another artwork during that time quite similar to this scene. I think I have shared it before, but I will do so again...here.
- Open up the digipak spread and you have the dinner set up photo and the lyric sheets and credits.
- On the left flap of the digipak is kept a poster which is similar to the original poster that comes with the original Japanese pressing of POM vinyls.
- Also on the left flap is a write up of Maiden during that time by Masa-Ito and on the reverse is the lyrics of POM in Japanese.
- On the right hand flap of the digipak is kept the cd, the artwork on the cd itself is copied from the remastered series cds from late 90s, and its kept in a jacket with more Japanese writings from the POM inlets and again similar lyrics in Japanese.
- The back cover is similar to the vinyls too.

Below is an alternative artwork that appears in the Derek Rigg's book for those who had missed on it.

Abbas bin Firnas not flight of ICARUS

Ilmu ialah untuk semua manusia tak pedulik sapa korang....Jadi kita tak senang2 kena bodoh2  ngan sapa2 pun.

Long overdue, but for those interested this is the "Pioneers Of Flight" section of the most interesting exhibition called Sultans of Science. It was held at one of the Singapore's Science Centre halls.
Maiden fans cant get away from the myth and the sad legend of Icarus, and the history of Kill Devil Hill. But maybe not many are aware of more to it than that,
this section of the exhibition focus on 9th Century Spain when Abbas Bin Firnas successfully glides in the first recorded flying machine. He was 70 years old then.
This are photos of every single exhibit in the flight section of this exhibition. The exhibits are mostly in English, so if you click on each photo on this post, its self-explanatory on the history of flight.

Pameran Sultan Of Science ni, cakap melayu dia apa eh? Ni pameran aku tengok kat pusat sains Singapura, dah basi dah pun... Aku pemalas nak upload.
ialah lebih kepada menunjukkan bijak pandai orang Islam dulu2. Kepakaran sains umat Islam yang mengubah dan mempengaruhi seluruh perjalanan dunia. Cehhhh... cam real je aku berbual.
Macam aku cakap masa aku gezek pameran ni tunjuk model kapal besar giler tu dulu,
aku ingat ni pameran cuma nak angkat orang arab tapi tak ok, ni tunjukkan kepandaian kepakaran keterroran orang Islam zaman dulu, bukan je orang Arab, cina Islam pun semua ada, pakaliao.

Jadi balik kepada sejarah penerbangan Abbas Bin Firnas kat Sepanyol dulu abad 9 dulu, Umur dia 70 tahun tau, biar betik kan? Tu la hebat orang Islam zaman dulu.
jugak cerita pasal Abu-al-nasr-ismael nak try terbang dari minaret, cakap melayu apa eh? Kubah eh? ( siak ah aku nye bahasa melayu makin rabak siol ).
Then dia jatuh and mati.
Then cerita pasal abad 17 Turkey, Hezarfen Ahmed Celebi jugak berjaya terbang..

Jadi cam...ok, memang kita tahu orang Islam memang pandai la, tapi bila gi pameran gini cam....WOW! ( sambil buat dio sign dua2 tangan ).
Nanti la aku sambung k, berlambak sey photo, actually aku petik tiap2 exhibit tau, tiap2 satu aku petik, berapa ratus gambar foto tu. Ada cam topik boring la, tapi topik ni gerek la kan...

moving on...

WHATEVER IT IS THIS IS IRON MAIDEN"S FLIGHT OF ICARUS 12 INCH VINYL, 7 INCH VINYL and CD OF FIRST TEN YEARS...
Best intepretation of the sad tale of Icarus ( though the album version was a bit slow and it was speeded up to a more rockin speed, by the Live After Death was recorded ),
ICARUS WHO WONT LISTEN TO HIS OWN FATHER.
rasain lu.
AS YOU CAN SEE... ICARUS WINGS GLUE WAS NOT MELTED BY THE SUN, HE WAS BLASTED BY A FLAME THROWER that EDDIE carries!! hahaah.
and that tiny little square box below the letter " O " in Iron? That is the padded room where the lobotomised Eddie is chained on the Piece Of Mind album cover.
All hail Derek Riggs!!!!
