I discovered Powerwolf late, by then they had came out with album number three, but better late than never....

I was going thru youtube looking at fans-recordings of newer metal bands playing live, hoping I find something that I will like enough to explore more.



On the youtube I saw this German band called Powerwolf working the crowd in the afternoon daylight of a festival, and it was lots of fun crowd interaction, and the song was nice too.
- the singer who I think came from Romania (thats why he is good with Werewolves LOL!!) is awesome and intelligent and also Opera-trained (so maybe thats why Powerwolf lyrics are filled with Latin too). the keyboards player was everywhere, they use two guitars without a bass for live performance unlike studio, their GIMMICKS are simply entertaining and most important IT WORKS to attract people's attention in  a positive way.

I remember buying Bible Of The Beast cd, it was way better than what I expect, I love the whole cd, and it goes on from there.

They really love Mercyful Fate and Black Sabbath, and these two names keep cropping up in the book on this boxset.

Also add that to their liking for Iron Maiden and their gallops and melodies, Steve Harris bass playing, using of Latin's language to make the songs more mysterious and religious soundings, (although what I think is its just a jumble-up Latin to just fit the themes and lyrics of songs), 
sings about Satan!! Werevolves!!!, heavy metal in a very very cunning (hillarious) way , lots of melodic singalong for live purpose, great songs, and I was hook and becomes a fan.

Seriously, look beyond their song titles, their satan theme songs, werewolves fantasies, their HALLELUJAHs!!! look beyond their looks, check out their songs, and I dont think you will be disappointed. Bible of the Beast is good to start with, their 3rd album.

An example is a song called "We Take From The Living", with its DIE FOR HEAVY METAL!!!, RAISE YOUR HORNS FOR SATAN!! but its actually a song about bands that sell their merchandising t-shirts at an expensive price during concerts. Put a smile on your face right because its so true.
How can you not like a band like this?

So this is Powerwolf boxset to celebrate 10 years, just a short review and also a bit of photos of the packaging, I think there will be two boxsets, because this one is History of Heresy part I (2004 to 2008) and it contains the remastered first two albums Return In Bloodred and Lupus Dei, but just to make your heart feel less pain if you already have a copy (LOL!!!), there are live versions added to the cds which comes in a completely new packaging and design which I think is only for this boxset, and also you have the Worship Wacken DVD which is live from their first Wacken show in 2008 and also a documentary during that era.

A nice story informed at the packaging of the DVD was some of Powerwolf members are huge CARCASS fans, and Carcass reunion was at the same time on another stage as Powerwolf were playing on a smaller stage, so they missed Carcass.

And most beautiful is the hard-cover book, OVER 100 pages thick, with lots of photos and essays, and informations, and backgrounds, ideas and influences to each song, and LOTS OF THINGS.

Seriously, this boxset is really value for money, its not expensive compared to other bands boxsets, and you get two cds with revamp packaging plus bonus songs, you got a dvd, YOU GOT THAT INCREDIBLE BOOK, and 5 cards among others, and its really beautifully packaged.

I am so happy to get this boxset and waiting for the next one to accompany the other two cds.

lastly, just an idea of Powerwolf live, maybe I had shared this before but its really an awesome footage.

this was like 2012 from a fan recording, a German metal band, with a Romanian opera-trained singer, able to work the Moscow Russian crowd in English language and you can see beyond the hilarious situation of the singer getting "frustrated" with the crowd (40 Percent!!!!, and the Haaaaaahhh!!! that causes him STRESS),

you can see how good, entertaining, crowd-pleasing, enjoyable this band is...
The singer got the audience full attention and they are eating out of his hands...

too long...HAH! not HAAAAHHH. MACAM KALAU KITA MENGAJI... IKUT PANJANG HARAKAT GITU...




they will play Hellfest 2014, I hope to be there and I know it will be so much fun and enjoyable to see them perform.

ada memang terbaru, korang tengok la Slayer ngan Maiden baru main dua hari lepas gitu, semua kat tenet semua dah siap dah bootlegs rakaman dorang, canggih-canggih MUTU RAKAMAN PEMINAT2 ni semua, gadget giler babi semua ni...

eh, anyway, aku nak ambik kesempatan cakap "wow!!", aku tengok Wings Rokestra malam terakhir tahun lepas yang aku bootleg dan upload kat youtube satu show, complete, wah...ramai jugak eh korang dengar...cehhhh... ada lagu dah tiga ribu...wah...rasa cam ok la korang terhibur kot? hehe.

tapi aku sebenarnye nak ceritakan aku tengah dengar bootleg Paul McCartney 28/05/2010 kat MEXICO CITY Foro Sol Stadium. Ni stadium yang Metallica nye dvd official tu dan Maiden nye Flight 666 pun ada video stadium ni.

THIS POST IS ALL ABOUT "WHAT IF'S", and a bit out of topic at the end of the post.
Its a PIXAR Fantasy type of  post except for the ending of this post which is reality.
Been doing a bit of preparation, IF I can really travel to Clisson, Nantes France for Hellfest. I STILL CANNOT HAVE EVEN ANY VAGUE IDEA OR IMAGINATION how the travelling to locate this place will be like. As usual, being a frog in a well, lets just hope for the best.


Final timetable for Hellfest 2014 running order is out at last. Notable changes, I am a bit happier as a fan.

PINK highlighter means I want to 100% be there for the whole schedule of that specific band. Of course I will politely give way to all the more energetic and crazier fans of course LOL!!! 
I will politely, and quitely like RATATOUILLE stay out of trouble haha.

GREEN highlighter means, its either I have to run between two (or three stages) to see bands that I like to see (which I doubt so is possible, but I'll see how it goes), or means I take A BREAK and then seeing the band I want to see.
OOoooo BREAKS!! I got to have lots of them, I want to window-shopping and seeing all the side-shows and circuses and playgrounds at the festival. Oooo and of course people-watching!!.



20th JUNE 2014 (1st day)

- Anyway, as expected MEGADETH CANCELLED, my condolence to David Ellefson. But...How on earth do they got DARK ANGEL as REPLACEMENT!!!. Its unbelievable yet great news.

- PARADISE LOST timing is shifted but still they clash now with Soundgarden, What A Relief for me for its easier to make a choice now. TRUE BELIEF!!! LOL!!! But if there is time I want to see Soundgarden of course.
Its quite a disaster originally as Paradise Lost clash with Sharon Osbournes' BLACK SABBATH timing.

(And lets see if this IDIOT wants to sabotage Maiden again while Maiden is playing on stage. THESE COLOURS DONT RUN!!)

- I think ALL THE COMPLAINS of EMPEROR playing at the same as VREID is really taken into consideration. Now VREID is switched. But all these reschedules now means Slayer clash with Death To All for example.

- IRON MAIDEN's timing is switched also. IT SHOWS ITS NOT NECESSARY A NEED TO PLAY LAST or near to the end to make a band big. I guess its all about PRIME TIME SLOT.
I mean, Maiden is not playing on Saturday anywhere else right? in fact their next show is 4 days later, and I think they have two set of stages set-up alternating at each location on tour,
so there is no hurry for them to play early and to fly to the next next destination so I guess its all about Maiden's management asking Hellfest to give them an early timing for the best possible crowd condition?? originally they were like 2255-0055 hrs with Slayer 0100-0200 hrs.
And anyway, maybe Maiden band members go to bed early??? haha.
But that means Maiden will clash with Watain now. Ooo the horror for some people haha.

- Ahhh... So I guess ICED EARTH is the last to play for all the 3 days that I want to see instead of Opeth on another stage.
ooo please play QUESTION OF HEAVEN!!. I am so liking this pretty song and Stu Block can sing it a bit like Matt Barlow. Anyway, Iced Earth's quality, in my opinion is going down since Matt Barlow left. Sigh....

21st JUNE 2014 (2nd day)

- CLASHES LOTS OF THEM. Every person must have different headaches!!

Besides some I mentioned above, another for me -
Friday all playing at the same time triple clash of Sabaton versus Enslaved versus Electric Wizard is a nice problem.

And another nice problem is Angra versus Urfaust. I am so keen to see both actually. Many years ago, I used to have a penpal or whatever its called who sent me Angra stuff, so I got to know about them and Andre Matos, so its nice to see them play, and the other, something really weird and fascinating.

SO THERE WILL BE LOTS OF RUNNING MADLY IN THE FIELDS FOR ME HAHAHAHAHAH.

22nd JUNE 2014 (3rd day)

- Early playing bands, sorry for I am definitely either just on the way, or still exploring the area as a traveller, I guess I wont be coming to Hellfest again (unless Maiden plays there again with another awesome incredible list of other bands playing like this year), so I want to check out the area surrounding it, or even stay back in Nantes, sightseeing this city till the afternoon.

Been to Download Donington, and Soundwave, but definitely Hellfest has the more significant interesting bands for me.
I have never been keen on too much labelling or emphasising of genres in regards to rock or metal bands. As all things in life, Humans like to make it complicated, and that includes micro-genre-ing rock/metal music to such specific details nowadays which personally misleads me most times.
As long as its interesting, thrilling, attractive, nice and pleases me, then I will like it irregardless of anything else.

OK, now... lets talk about the BEST BAND IN THE WORLD THAT IS NOT PLAYING AT HELLFEST 2014.
TOTO it is...

Just got their Blue-ray disc Live in Poland for their 35th Anniversary.

If Iron Maiden do not release a live video this year (I hope its the Donington 2013 show), then this new TOTO live video is hands down best live video of the year.

Allow me a few days, to find some time at home to watch this video. Then I'll review it. LOL!!

There are some guys who already upload footages at youtube, but still this is live dvd/blue ray/album to buy the original and marvel at this band and all who had ever performed for this band.

TWO TOTO performers had now PASSED AWAY,
also I think Mike Porcaro is completely bed-ridden due to ALS Lou Gehrig Disease, but still TOTO flame keep burning...

I watched in awe at this video. ITS HAPPINESS!!! and the ending... is simply breathtaking.

Aku rasa semua paham yang thorbaik ialah, tangan kanan memberi sampai tangan kiri pun tak tahu.

tapi kadang2 its exceptional macam seseorang pemimpin set example untuk orang lain so dia tunjuk, terutama untuk MENARIK PERHATIAN UMUM sesuatu peristiwa atau sesuatu perkara, yang mungkin orang tak perasan gitu...

atau korang semua tunjuk contoh kat love ones korang kat rumah kan?? ngan korang SET EXAMPLE, ajar dan demonstrasi macammana nak beri bantuan, derma, sedekah, zakat, korban, masuk tabung mesjid, sukarelawan and all that gitu kan pasal memang tanggungjawab orang Islam pe, seberapa rock mampos nye korang satu dua pembaca blog ni haha.

kadang2 tu kalau kita tengok kat sokkabar ke news ke tenet ke, baca2 benda2 gini memang kita tumpang bangga la kan.... kita senyum lebar2... macam.. hah!! gini la thorbaik!!

Iron Maiden to give part of concert revenue to flood victims

BELGRADE -- Iron Maiden's leader and founder Steve Harris believes Serbia "will come out stronger after the disaster the recent floods."

He wished all those who have suffered from the disaster to return to normal life as soon as possible.

Iron Maiden cannot wait for its concert in Belgrade on June 17 and hopes that the flooded areas will be repaired in the meantime, he noted. 

A part of the revenue from the concert of Iron Maiden will go towards repairing the damage from the floods, the organizers of the concert have said. 

Billy Idol, who is due to perform here on June 25, has announced the same. 

Iron Maiden will perform in Belgrade as part of their Maiden England tour. Fans from all over the region and across the world are expected at the concert, since this will be the only one in the former Yugoslavia area and just one of the several concerts they will hold this year.

Aku pernah kerja kat satu tempat ni suatu masa dahulu, ada satu orang berumur tu jam, dari India. Dia beragama Hindu, dia cerita kat aku tentang kehidupan kat sana, dia cerita pasal kat sana la, kadang2 hidup masyarakat majmuk  hidup dan tinggal sesama, yang berlainan agama contoh agama Hindu dan Islam.

Akhir sekali, dia cakap kat aku, kalau seseorang tu agama Islam ke agama Hindu ke, kalau ada masalah kesihatan, kemalangan dan sebagainya, kau pergi HOSPITAL apa darah ko dapat? Darah siapa?? KORANG TANYA DOKTOR TAK?? DARAH SAPA NI??

Ini seorang dari India, seorang dah berumur punya cakap ngan aku...betapa aku boleh belajar dari apa dia cakap ni.

So pada aku, tak mau la terlampau over, bukan nak fikir pasal macammana kita nak kawal keadaan apa yang kita nak makan mulai sekarang, apa Pelajaran kita dapat dari situasi ni, tapi kita sibuk pasal darah dalam badan kita.

I mean, setiap hari gaji kita dapat hasil kita kerja, atau sumber pendapatan kita, KITA PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE, 
korang ada fikir, dan ada tanya adakah sumber tu semua 100% halal ke??

Buat apa nak fikir jauh, fikir FOOD ON THE TABLE AJE!!

Aku rasa untuk aku sendiri, aku dah take for granted kecemerlangan aksi dan gaya persembahan Maiden bila main di atas pentas, ngan PENAMPILAN tip-top mereka, 
ngan BERAKSI SEBAIK MUNGKIN UNTUK MENGHIBURKAN para hadirin yang dah bayar duit tiket, dan KUALITI danMUTU persembahan mereka secara live,  jadi tak pernah terlintas kat aku kualiti persembahan mereka setiap show dorang main mana2 dalam dunia.
Serious berbual, GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!!

Jadi untuk pusingan akhir kalinya....tour sejarah....aku pun sedih...masa dah makin surut haha....bagus la jugak...aku boleh move-on la ye?? hahahaha...tapi of course happy dan tumpang bangga, dorang nye populariti maintain giler malam makin popular dari mungkin zaman 80an dulu.

Susah nak cakap ni untuk sebuah band rock macam Iron Maiden yang kureng dapat liputan semasa.



- Masalah ialah, dengan penambahan 2014 nye leg Maiden England, akan melambatkan album baru. Album baru lambat, maka lambat la lagu2 baru, album baru lambat, maka makin lambat la dorang nak pusing World Tour nanti untuk main kat Malaysia, Singapore, Indon dan rantau south east asia ni dan of course Australia.
Dan aku rasa ni mungkin kali terakhir dorang akan datang rantau ni untuk main pasal promote next new album.

- ok, jadi Maiden ni, pada aku la, secara peribadi memang macam siak la Steve Harris dan Bruce Dickinson pasal ni dua orang yang susun lagu apa nak main, dorang sangat play-safe, untuk aku dorang nak main untuk GENERAL PUBLIC sangat sampai pilihan lagu sangat GENERAL PUBLIC.

tapi kalau fikir, baik nyanyi dangdut sekalipun, dari dorang tak main langsung kan??

Anyway, aku rasa bukan aku sorang je risau pasal Adrian Smith tentang hal ni, Adrian Smith dah cakap dia nak main lagu2 rare la gitu....nampak nye permintaan dan harapan dia masih kurang dilayan.

Aku rasa Adrian Smith ada makan hati tak? Dia ada rasa bingit giler tak? haha... 

Apa pun, Adrian Smith dikhabarkan pakai gitar lama dia ni berapa jam lepas di malam pertama Barcelonaaaaaaa.. 20 tahun ada tak pakai??? sorry la aku tak cam sangat berapa lama dia pakai? last Piece Of Mind 1983 kot ibanez explorer yang kalau zaman dulu gambo Adrian semua cam gini??

Allow me to indulge in a live album originally from 1988 with annoying missing songs on different formats, which was remastered and finally appeared in the full length version Nobody's Perfect double cd version, from Deep Purple, 
a band that I grow up on, a band no matter what mark versions, that I so much like yesterdays, now and forever.
First let me talk cock in Malay Language, then its a short review in English as I knew it haha..

Aku suka album live ni. Selain ni, dalam banyak album live rasmi Deep Purple, lagi satu album live Deep Purple yang aku suka ialah Live In Olympia 1996 pasal tu banyak lagu zaman Steve Morse masa album pertama dia Perpendicular ngan Deep Purple, 
( Secara Peribadi, Sangat Berpengaruh album Live in Olympia Paris tu sampai aku nak backpack ni aku nak pergi teater Olympia nak tengok teater lagenda ni, lagi pun malam Isnin lepas Hellfest tu Joe Satriani nak main kat Olympia, dan kalau korang dah tengok dvd dia yang last tour, dirakam kat Olympia jugak, 
tetapi.......secara kebetulan Extreme main sama malam kat lagi satu teater lagenda iaitu Le Bataclan, so aku decide nak gi tengok Extreme main full show je la haha.)

dan kat Live In Olympia 1996 situ boleh dapat versi Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming yang paling aku suka, aku suka tunggu Jon Lord nye sentuhan sana sini,.. John Lord nye keys kat versi live album Live Olympia untuk lagu Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming adalah membuat aku termenung jauh... Setiap kali aku tengok Deep Purple main live, aku akan tunggu lagu ni, dan bila Steve Morse start intro je, aku cam kat planet lain..dan aku rasa syahdu sangat, mengelamun hokey!,  aku tak tahu apasal aku suka sangat lagu Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming, lagu ni ceritakan pasal aku kot? hish takdelah, haha tapi.. apa pun, nangis takde la, tapi sayu....ada! HAHHAA. kalau tengok live, aku akan senyum sorang2 macam orang giler, macam kerang busuk, aku cam bodoh gitu haha!! Steve Morse nye ending tu dah la eternity gitu kan dia solo! haha, abis tu kalau dengar pulak kat cd ke, youtube ke, Bila lagu abis je, aku tekan replay, abis...aku tekan replay.. Perfect song, best Steve Morse era song!!
Rasanya kat Hellfest ni kalau aku dapat pergi, mungkin kali terakhir la aku dapat tengok Deep Purple main. 
Kali terakhir dengar dan tengok Ian Paice haha. Harap ada FIREBALL!! sua terang Hellfest pe... Aku rasa Fireball la lagu yang paling dahsyat respon nye nanti la kan untuk suasana Hellfest, if you know what I mean? hahaha... OK back to topic...

Rakaman2 lagu yang exciting dan giler-babi menakjubkan permainannya pada aku ngan masih adanya Man In Black si Ritchie Blackmore dan mendiang Jon Lord. Senarai anggota MARK II - Gillan/Blackmore/Glover/Lord/Paice.

Nobody's Perfect ni masa mula keluar 1988 dulu memang cam puaka cara penerbitan dia, kaset tak complete, cd single version tak complete, LP pun tak complete. Semua ada lagu yang antara versi lain takde.

Tahun  1999, then remastered, jadi double cd, dan dapatlah semua 14 lagu dalam satu packaging..bagi dua cd gitu. Tahun 2014, baru aku dapat tangkap Jepun nye pressing, SHM CD. (Super High Material CD gitu nama nya). Ala...aku bukan nye ada equipment canggih untuk bezakan selera bunyi orang2 Jepun ni kan, lagi pun aku rip aje...masa jalan kaki, dalam pengangkutan awam pasang headphone buat kuat2, hah dengar segala bunyik, FOKUS! FOKUS!!carik!!!!! haha..).

Pertama kali aku dengar album ni dulu zaman sekolah dulu, luaskan minda aku dalam seni muzik dan hiburan. Dari album live ni aku mula kenal apa tu Rock Opera/Theater ngan JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, aku mula kenal apa tu BEETHOVENS' FUR ELISE, dan BUDDY HOLLY'S nye EVERYDAY dan THAT WILL BE THE DAY.

Sebelum aku tahu dan tengok Dream Theater ngan Simpsons, dan semua orang punye terkejut beruk bila dorang masuk Metalika's Wherever I May Roam nye ending untuk apa? Peruvian Skies kan dulu dorang bawak kat ending tu...
Deep Purple nye improvisations dan musical genuis dah menawan hati aku.... Belakang Maiden, kalau aku pilih band nombor dua main live dalam hidup aku mungkin Toto, tapi Deep Purple mungkin share la tu spot.

Anyway, Ni album lagu2 nye diambil dari EMPAT SHOW BERLAINAN. Jadi...takde flow macam live album terus menerus satu malam gitu la kan.... TAPI TERBAIK pasal persembahan mereka dahsyat bila bukak kuat2 dengar pakai headphone, segala bunyik semua masuk, masa Ian Gillan cakap, aku bukak kuat2 boleh dengar Ritchie Blackmore kat background...macam aku cakap banyak improvisation, aku rasa ni album tunjukkan Deep Purple tengah ENJOY!! dan GEMBIRA MAIN MUZIK!!, aku rasa kalau korang dengar ni album, korang agree...

Album live, ada lagu Child In Time yang Ian Gillan masih boleh nyanyi lagik zaman tu lagu ni (hehehe), ada lagu semua yang best2 la, Knocking At Your Back Door ada... ditujukan khas buat mereka yang..... (hehehee), SIOT KORANG JANGAN FIKIR BUKAN2 EH!!!! aku nak cakap lagu ni ditujukan buat Sweet Suzie Samurai haha... Giler nye lirik dan makna lagu ni. Dalams.
dan..macam2 la, ooo aku pernah baca, satu lagu kat ending album ni Hush, ialah versi rakaman live di studio yang dorang semua dah mabok, balik studio, sekali main, je dorang rakam Hush version kat album ni...
TERBAIK!!

A Live Album that I liked so much. Finally I got the complete 14 songs version on the Japanese remastered 2 cd version.
Nobodys Perfect, an album from the House Of Blue Light album tour is an album that is so exciting, thrilling musicianship, with lots of improvisations and the MARK II reunion line-up was in top form and I guess this album brings so much happiness, and it shows the band having so much "FUN" I guess.
I realised I learn a lot about the scope of music from this album when I first listen to it. I discover Buddy Holly, I discover Jesus Christ Superstar, and most of all that intro of the greatest double meaning cunning linguist song ever Knocking At Your Back Door, with Jon Lord playing Beethoven's Fur Elise.

I dont care, even how the Deep Purple members think of this album, I dont care how people talk about the edits, I mean the edits is not really that a problem for me, because its from different shows and Ian Gillan can't keep his mouth shut, his talks need to end somewhere.

AND... if you want to listen to the songs, the way its played in studio then listen to the studio versions.
I mean this is Deep Purple live, and their improvisations is like-crazy out of this world genius.
