Metal Hammer magazine May 2017 Maiden galore & incoming KEMBARA cds aku baru memperolehi

Hi all.

Firstly.. WRATHCHILD?? WHY???? I will never understand Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson mentality in choosing a setlist for PART TWO of their most successful album tour ever.
SURELY THIS IS THE MOST CRAZIEST SUCCESFUL ALBUM TOUR FOR A BAND WITH NO RADIO AIRPLAY OR MASS MEDIA EXPOSURE at a VERY MINIMUM.

2016 has simply an amazing well-balanced setlist for an album tour.

Antwerp Belgium two nights ago, and it was simply suspenseful following the news on the internet as each song is being played in Belgium for fans all over the world.

Great Unknown replacing Tears Of The Clown is amazing but basically swapping Wrathchild for Hallowed Be Thy Name is mind-boggling.

The only valid reason surely is the setlist is very difficult for Bruce as it is.

But still, never mind. Better Wratchild then no more Iron Maiden ever LOL!!

Maiden can just play Wratchchild 5 times in a row and say goodnight and I will still try to be there. LOL!!

Anyway, not many bands with such a long history, dare to play at least 6 new songs each night consuming up to 50 minutes of the stage time, and the audience are loving it and singing to the lyrics and "football chanting" all the melodies and instrumental sections.

A quick post as I require minimum time for thinking as I will be posting lots of snapshots.

I hope to have more time to talk cock soon.

Its a very excellent magazine issue for the still surviving Metal Hammer.

Lots of things for everyone,

-some nice articles on German Thrash bands inclusive live reviews.

-some X Japan even So this is really a very nice issue to purchase

-some of other bands that I am curious.

-some of other bands that I skipped completely the pages and photos as I have no interest.

-some very nice and interesting advertisements

and a little matter of SIX PAGES OF interview with Steve Harris.

and a little matter of a weird Top 50 Iron Maiden songs.

IT MAKES A GOOD READING, but for me, how is there to create a top 50 of Maiden songs?
On this magazine Top 50, even though it includes nominations and scores from the writers, the fans, other bands including Kirk Hammet,

but it cannot even fit in Dance Of Death? For The Greater Good Of God? LOL!!

Maybe a Top 100 Iron Maiden songs would be possible for me to try nominating a list.

So here it is, I only try to capture the Steve Harris interviews, and the Top 50 opinion of Metal Hammer staff and whoever they checked with.

Like I say, its just impossible to select a Top 50, although Metal Hammer May 2017 list done by their staff, other bands and whomever is certainly interesting with the write up for each song nomination,

Maybe a Top 100 may be realistically possibly to nominate top Maiden songs.

but, one glance and there is no Dance Of Death? A few songs from A Matter Of Life And Death..

There is no Einstein Intelligence of a Formula E = mc SQUARE and the description of  an Atom Bomb lyrics of Brighter Than a Thousand Suns? There is no STARBLIND.

THERE IS NO STAR"FUCKIN"BLIND. A genius of a song both musically, delivery and lyrically.

There is a lot of songs I like that is not there. LOL!!

SO a top 100 would be great.

Like I say, this makes a very good read and a good advertisement for Maiden. Thats all.

OK Tu hari aku dapatkan empat cd Kembara, campur dengan cd yang aku dapat masa Kembara Mark 1 dan Mark 2 beraksi di Istana Budaya...  so aku suka la pasal aku nak simpan bentuk cd yang dirilis.

campur dengan bootleg2 aku tape, aku nak buat boxset sendiri haha...

so aku pasang balik bootleg IB hari Jumaat nye show yang aku tape...

aku rasa macam sial sangat, macam SIALLL sangat pasal tentu ada yang ingin curious nak dengar cammana suasana malam tu terjadi, walaupun rakaman bootleg.

aku tahu, walaupun bootlegs aku cuma beberapa orang je dengar kat youtube,

KEMBARA mk 1 & mk 2 reunion main full show kat KL pulak tiga malam beturut2.

Hoi Korang, lepas berfantasi, syok sendiri dan being an Idiot pasal kumpulan Search (harap jangan ada tersinggung atau marah2 pasal aku panggil lagu Isabella sebagai Hisapbella), dalam tulisan blog yang lepas, dan aku realise after all these years, I still get excited bila nak tengok Search main....., lets talk about Kembara tiga malam berturut2 main kat Istana Budaya malam ni sampai Ahad malam.

First lets get the Bullshit out of the way - "Fuck all these illuminati Crap for once, its fuckin Kembara, and if Kembara wants to put ONE EYE or even 666 EYES so be it"..
Its just an artwork.. kalau gitu jangan tulis rumi, rumi ada huruf t, tiap kali kau buat huruf t kau buat tanda salib.
Yang itu tak terfikir lak, Kembara letak mata satu je.... abis sensasi..... People are sensationalising about that artwork instead of analysing contents lagu2 Kembara...
ok I got the shit out of the way..

Macam korang jugak, aku suka Kembara pasal dari kecik dengar2 lagu dorang, but not as in a big-scale way la, tapi macam kebanyakkan korang semua jugak la, lagu2 Kembara menyerikan kehidupan kita waktu dulu one way or another dan zaman sekarang ngan You-Tube semua...


Dorang bukan EMO, dorang bukan "oooo sedih betapa hidup, aku nak mati..oooo depress depresss!!" tapi dorang LETS STAND UP and be Counted gitu...

Their songs for me is about "we all can do well in life irregardless who we are. We all as much right to be happy and achieve our dreams or at least die trying.  Never underestimate anyone, never look down on people
Kembara sings highly about MAT KOTAI!!! sings about MAT KOTAI for all their contributions...
and take that you high and mighty people who look down on the people on the street!!"


And ... Bas Nombor 13 sekarang dah jadi Double-Decker ok, so kalau double decker maknanya bas tu cater to a lot of normal people relying on that route which is dah berapa kali tukar, tapi still MASIH MAGICALLY pass thru Geylang Serai dan HAIG ROAD.

Masa dorang reunion, I mean REUNION untuk buat a FULL-ON-ALL-OUT concert kat Singapore tahun lepas 30 Mac 2013, aku of course gatal mesti nak pergi, tapi aku tak tahu apa nak expect. Kira macam pakai selipar macam nak pergi kedai, tapi pergi Esplanade sebenarnya. Macam ok la, I am going to spend 3 hours of my time over there. Lets just enjoy whatever, gitu.
Dan sorry la eh, Esplanade takde dress-code ni semua (ok la possibly untuk different shows, patrons are handled differently la) , sebarang je, dan takde protokol2 ni semua bak kata introduction masa Sweet Charity nak main sana, Ramli Sarip cakap "Nak buat apa buat! Asal jangan ada Rusuhan sudah". haha.

Dan, paling giler, sampai hari show, suratkhabar melayu kat Singapura masih cakap possibly Kembara Mark I akan main sama2. Sampai hari show kat Singapore Esplanade aku dan rasanya ada lain sangka ni ialah Kembara Mark II nye full show campur A Ali dan S Sahlan untuk a few songs.

Only bila show start then aku realise, A Ali dah take up position kat "JANICK GERS" side of the stage (Zoul "Dave Murray" side) then aku realise "fuckin hell!! Its Kembara Mark I & Mark II FULL SHOW!!".

Unbelievable. Unsangkarable. Rasa macam aku tengah tengok satu lipatan sejarah dibuka depan aku secara live. Satu lipatan sejarah hidup balik, darab dua pasal mk I & mk II combined, dan main 2 jam setengah ngan lagu2 yang korang bila dengar korang tahu la best...
Legend ok. Legend Giler la senang cakap. Korang tahu RTM nye "Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah" tu kan? Hah...10 tahun dari sekarang, nanti keluar cakap 30 Mac 2013 ialah hari Kembara Mark I and Mark II main show 2 jam 30 minit Reunion.

I mean masa Hati Emas, then A Ali did that solo... Oooohh dia punya thrill boleh rasa la kat satu Esplanade tu semua orang excited giler.

And dont forget the drummer from Mk II, masa kat Singapore nye show M Nasir kan cakap kat audience "DRUMMER BAIK KAN?"...and of course... tapi lepas tu buat joke "dulu dia jahat" ahaha

And that night, is not M Nasir's night...as if people focus on him that much...

Malam tu M Nasir hanya adalah seorang anggota Kembara.. Sama rata dia ngan semua anggota lain Mark I dan Mark II.

That is one of the best about it.....

ooo lupa lak, kalau kat Malaysia M Nasir ni datuk ye? haha... ok la..in my eyes no different la kan


So lets harap aku dapat pergi HAHAHA, ok banyak benda nak buat ni...
Stesen LRT mana? Titiwangsa kan?

Alamak.... MALASNYE AKU NAK MENAPAK GI ISTANA BUDAYA DARI STESEN LRT. tak jauh sangat la tapi jauh jugak haha. Ada jalan raya besar tu...
ok la kalau malas jalan kaki, naik teksi dari depan LRT ada terminal bas tu? hahaha....

Ohhhhh balik lagik satu hal LRT dahbis haha. Cekik Darah la Istana Budaya ni public transport!!!

Musim raya puasa tahun ni, aku tahu dahbis pun, tapi boleh kira meriah ngan lagu2 melayu baru yang kira boleh masuk la kat telinga aku, baik dari band atau solo.
Aku masih ingat tahun bila dah lama dah, Malex punya second album yang cam EP tu dorang jual sendiri kat Geylang Serai time bulan puasa tahun bila ntah.

Tu hari borak pasal Kraton, metal gitu, so kali ni borak pasal Kembara nye band member Zoul (who is also M Nasir brother) punye solo album.

So.... some quickie things I want to say.
- 11 lagu kat album Zoul - Salam Cinta ni..
- Hidup Segan Mati Tak Mahu ada dua version, album dan radio edit. Ni lagu guitar solos one after another.
- album ni majoriti lagu dan senikata liriks ni Zoul tulis.
- Semua guitars kat setiap lagu pun Zoul tak salah aku kecuali cuma Malex dan Talib main kat lagu Hidup Segan.. tu.

- Artis jemputan such as Olynn Saleh, tak familiar la aku kat female singer ni tapi aku dengar satu brader cakap dia popular kat radio and tv. ok.
- Art Fazil ada, Hamid Black Dog Bone main majoriti bass ni album and lets wish him all the best after whats been happening, Hanafie Warren Unwanted ada, Malex ada, members Al Jawaher pun ada, aku tengok kat credits list tu ada Gendang Sunda percussions being used, etc etc
- Salam Cinta reminds me of Kembara nye style. Alrite lagu. 
- Seberang Sana mula2 aku ingat lagu pasal negara jiran ke hapa ke, sekali dengar, tengok lirik, ooo very deep. Reflective song. Seberang Sana mungkin akhirat kot?

- lagu Selekoh nyanyian Zoul dan Art Fadzil. Rausyanfikirish. "Had laju di hadapan hanya 50, yang kau pergi pecut siapa yang suruh? salah pandang terkena tiang, salah belok termasuk longkang..." Best.
- Di Balik Tabir Cinta. Ni lagu Zoul duet ngan Olyn. Sedap lagu ni. Aku suka. Kalau aku dj radio, aku akan mainkan lagu ni.
- Aku Masih Disini dan Damai, so far ni dua lagu aku dengar2 gitu je.

- SITI PAYUNG. Best Giler lagu ni. Aku double cek, konfemkan ni lagu baru, lagu nyanyi lenggok tradisional melayu, lirik pun very melayu traditional, tapi backing vocal melodies dah macam Def Leppard nye harmonies gitu. Ni lagu Hanafie Warren ada, dan kredit taruk vokal latar dua members Al Jawaher.
- Selingan Bicara 6 Tali Besi is accoustic. Aku rasa Zoul by himself aje ni lagu. Sedap.
- Lagu nombor 10 ialah instrumental - Magrib Di Khatulistiwa.
Serious aku fikir, aku fikir dan cuba ingat, cam sapa eh intro lagu ni..
Aku fikir dan fikir, ok korang pernah dengar Dokken "One Night Only" yang dorang main cam duduk 4 orang sebaris gitu, Mick Brown main hand held percussions gitu? Hah!! Ni George Lynch!! haha. Ye la Zoul bukan George Lynch atau tiru George Lynch tapi....tu je la masa Magrib di Khatulistiwa ni start je, otak aku teringat Dokken George Lynch kat live album Dokken tu.

ok dah... aku tangkap ni cd kat kedai Muzika Joo Chiat Complex.
Tak tahu la pulak kat pasaran Malaysia masuk tak album ni, kalau tak masuk, well....

Long live Lagu Melayu yang best dan sentiasa baru dan baru. Lagu lama gerek dan dihargai, tapi asyik borak pasal lagu lama je, kejong la, kira living on past glories je tanpa usaha baru, buat hapa dok.. 
Malays have been making progress in all fields, cam Judas Priest cakap "Onwards We Catapult!!" which summarise many things in life.. Lets support them in all fields, especially when these "orang karyawan, orang seni" come out with these quality stuffs.

Complete bootleg of Kembara's reunion for those interested is youtbeded

Seeing one of Malay's language most legendary band reunion of Kembara featuring members from the original line-up and the 2nd line-up all on-stage playing a full 150mins show is a dream come true for many. My review of the show is on the previous blog-post.

Was it like 30 years since the original line up was around, and at least more that 25 years since the 2nd line-up?
Its an honour to see all of them together on stage and play, and they are really superb songwriters, musicians, singers, and live performers.

I bootlegged it for my own personal enjoyment but until an official triple cd of the complete show comes out ( hopefully ) and a dvd, this is for those who were not there but would love to get an idea of the show.
(its an all seater posh concert hall, so I cant manuever much, if you are not used to low quality fan audience audio bootlegs, dont bother to listen)

Esplanade staff had really done great all these years by having among others Sweet Charity celebrates their 40th anniversary show and also Lovehunters final concert, and now Kembara reunion.

I wonder if they had ever enquired about Flybaits, another Malay-language band that was famous household name back then. At least some of them are still big names making the news with their works. Now that would be another blockbuster event.

Kembara = M Nasir, A Ali, S Sahlan, Zoul, Rahmat, Md Shah, Shahrom live on stage kat Esplanade Concert Hall Singapura 30/03/2013.
Untuk aku sendiri yang tak follow up sangat berita persiapan show ni cuma beli tiket, ambik leave, dan terus buat bodoh sua sampai hari show, surprise giler la bila tengok original Kembara A Ali dan S Sahlan was on stage for the full 2hr 30mins show.

Kalau Iron Maiden tak main kat sini tahun ni, aku rasa takde pesaingan la untuk "show of the year".

Kalau korang malas nak baca ulasan/review aku, ni setlist Blockbuster lagu2 yang dorang main...

2 Jam 30 minit.  Dahsyat sey show, but at the same time no Malam, no Ada Sepasang Mata etc. The abundance of good songs they have.

ok, ni beberapa benda yang tarik perhatian aku..

- Dorang pakai 3rd guitarist extra tapi Zoul ngan A Ali kongsi lead , solos.
- Ada percussionist extra.
- Two keyboards dan guna grand piano untuk some songs.
- Drummer Shahrom ngan bassist Rahmat was awesome la pada aku, so was Zoul and A Ali. A Ali kalau solo je mesti dapat tepukan gemuruh.
- S Sahlan's voice was superb. So was A Ali and Zoul. Dorang nyanyi lead vocals untuk some of the songs. Bunga Bakawali Zoul nyanyi lead, Puduraya A Ali nyanyi lead, Impian Seorang Nelayan S Sahlan lead singer etc. Lain mostly M Nasir, tak yah cerita la M Nasir ni, dia memang bagus.
-  Starting was a video showing S Amin Shahab buat lukisan seni gitu.
- Sound dari 1st song dah best, Esplanade, memang expected la tempat ni kan.
- Banyak kelakar2 la, stage banters dorang, M Nasir yang do most of the talking pun, dorang gurau2 lawak gitu eg Puduraya etc. Audience pun sporting.
- Lepas Bunga Bakawali, a short video showing S Amin Shahab berbual pasal Kembara, then short video dari Polygram nye boss ke hapa ntah, dia cakap dulu dorang memang nak Kembara jadi "Malay Music First Intellectual Band".
- Then there was another short video clip showing some stories and infos dari Zoul, Rahmat, Shahrom, Md Shah.
- Ada beberapa lagu guna accoustic guitars Zoul dan A Ali, dan jugak grand piano - ...Ibu, ....Ana, ....Kekasih. Lain semua karen all the way.
- Ada lagu seret ngan jams dan solos - Hati Emas, Perjuangan, Gerhana..etc
- Some nice audience participations ala Running Free hehe.
- Intros dan background info untuk sebahagian lagu - M Nasir cakap pasal penjara etc ooo not forgetting MAT KOTAI. Dah berzaman aku tak dengar ni word Mat Kotai sey. Ni word lama ni.
- Balanced set list, fast songs slow songs, songs not about love, songs about love.
- Perhentian Puduraya ni memang lagu sedih la kan, also M Nasir cakap lagu Kepada Mu Kekasih ni lagu 'awet muda' pasal dah puluhan tahun tapi orang masih suka.
- Gerhana siap dorang speed-up dan slowdown kat last part, kecoh sey ni band.
- I think the show is full house. The ticket pricing is very very reasonable for a legendary band at a top-notch place.
- There was some banters at the end of the show about another show next year haha.
- What else? Aku rasa mesti keluar dvd la, ni Esplanade shows ni dorang siap camera sana sini, jadi aku rasa Kembara Ekpres Rakyat reunion ni mesti ada dvd ikut style Sweet Charity 40 Years dan Lovehunters nye final concert. Aku harap ni show release official triple cd of the whole performance.
Dulu M Nasir pernah keluar triple vcd kan yang Gembala nye show tu. Tu memang packaging best giler siap setiap packaging dia sign, jarang music melayu keluar ni triple triple disc versions.
- Nanti la kalau aku senang dan takde apa terpeleot, aku upload bootleg ni show kalau sapa berminat, aku kumpul untuk koleksi peribadi aku buat kenangan je dan dengar balik kadang2.
