Incoming Iron Maiden Fan Club Magazine edition 106
and Def Leppard Hysteria 30 Years Deluxe 3cd Expanded edition.

Lets start with Def Leppard...

I will show all photos of the packaging for those interested.

This album is basically imbedded into many rock fans ears and brains thru all these years.

Remember that I only listen to the ripped-format while walking, waiting for bus and trains and inside public transportations of bus and trains,
and plus being aware of the songs since its release many years ago..

The remastered version do not make much difference to me.

I only got it for the 2nd and 3rd cd of In The Round In The Face cd official format.
I want to collect a live album officially release on the Hysteria tour, so this is my chance.
Again, a hit and miss live album..
Some portions are amazing, some are boring.

But if you love anything on the late STEVE CLARK.. THIS 3cd version is a MUST!!!!

Macam aku cakap kat atas.. kalau korang minat Def Leppard,
berapa korang menyampah pun album ni pasal terlampau pop sangat...,
tapi ni album dan lagu2 dia dah konfem terpahat dalam sanubari korang sejak berpuluh tahun lepas.
Memang banyak lagu dari album ni gerek..
terbaik dari ladang.

So kalau korang fikir nak beli versi 3cd ni... 
aku tak boleh cakap ni paling gerek la...
lagipun kalau korang dah ada...

tapi kalau korang nak simpan satu live cd zaman Hysteria yang official punye walau korang dah ada videotape ke hapa ke, ni la tempatnye..
walaupun aku rasa konsert tu pun tak complete kot...

Apa pun.... cam aku cakap jugak.. kalau korang minat Steve Clark.. ni la album nye versi 3cd ni..

Very very good issue as usual.

44 pages all full colour, no advertisement just pure Maiden with lots of cute pretty photos and superb and informative text , and essays and writeups.

But its not all fun and happiness.. There is a very nice reflective and memorable text , a full page write up on the passing of Mr Khan.

So you have the preview of Bruce Dickinson new biography.. The Rock In Rio 1985 quote is amazing really..
Interview with the book editor.
Interview with Metal Blade CEO on him being an Iron Maiden fan.

PYROMANIA Deluxe Edition - Def Leppard and news of Maiden's continuation release of the 180gram heavyweight black vinyls.

OK, after the SERIOUSNESS of 

World Water Day/Hari Air Sedunia.

Lets start the review/opinion and ulasan of Def Leppard's Pyromania Deluxe Edition in Bahasa Melayu and then  in English.
As usual I try to make the contents different,
usually the Bahasa Melayu one will be more gossipy. LOL!!

Untuk korang peminat lagu rock melayu dan omputeh,
satu antara dua ni akan berlaku dalam hidup korang.

Sama ada 
a) korang dengar lagu FOOLING dulu, lepas tu dengar BERPALING dari Search.
ATAU 
b) korang dengar lagu BERPALING dari Search dulu, lepas tu baru dengar lagu FOOLING.

tapi salah satu atas ni, selalu terjadi, lumrah hidup korang sebagai seorang peminat rock n roll band.

Kenangan kan ni semua.
Pyromania ni asalnya tahun 1983 dulu, dan versi deluxe ni ialah tahun 2009 keluar.

First sekali aku nak cakap, kalau aku cuma boleh pilih satu album Def Leppard aku akan pilih album Slang, aku pernah blog pasal Slang dua kali, satu kali untuk Slang double CD, dan lagi sekali bila Special Edition Slang keluar.
Aku siap beli single2 dari album Slang pasal aku nak versi live lagu2 dari album Slang.
Slang ni unik, terkeluar ring gitu...
ok, balik ke tajuk perbincangan dan berbual syok sendiri.
Jadi aku akhirnya memiliki cd Pyromania. Aku tengok kat gerobok aku tak pernah nampak la. haha.
Kaset memang....
Zaman sekolah dulu, pakai Walkman ye tak.
SEMUA LAGU GEREK, sepuluh sepuluh lagu Terbaik dari ladang.
Aku paling tak suka lagu Fooling dalam kaset Pyromania ni. Pasal cam gagap gitu. Macam bas ekpress KKKL. Korang tahu tak, kalau kat rumah sebut bas KKKL katalah beli tiket bas express KKKL kan? tak panggil KKKL tau, tapi panggil "Bas Gagap".

Gurau je eh, jangan terasa... hidup zaman ni memang stress, cakap sikit je kecik hati, marah2. haha.

 Aku paling suka lagu Comin'Under Fire dan lagu Stagefright.
Seronok giler dua dua lagu ni.
Tapi apa pun setiap lagu gerek... dan Die Hard The Hunter bila part gitar solos tu kan, gerek giler.

Jadi sapa belum memiliki tapi nak cukupkan korum dan masukkan cd Pyromania dalam koleksi korang, Sila tangkap versi Deluxe Edition kerana bukan saja Pyromania tapi cd yang kedua dalam bungkusan ini ialah sangat hebat, live songs dari persembahan 1983 mereka kat Los Angeles.
Dahsyat, dan best sangat. Evergreen.
Versi live giler babi nye istimewa sangat zaman dorang memang hebat tahun 1983 dulu - 
6 lagu dari album Pyromania, 2 dari album On Through The Night, 6 dari album High N Dry, dan satu lagu cover Travelling Band dengan Brian May dari Queen.
So memang sapa minat Def Leppard, ni peluang memiliki live album rasmi dengan persembahan dan sound terbaik dari zaman tiga album pertama bila mereka memang rock.

dan ingat, ni zaman paling best Def Leppard, 
-RICK ALLEN MASIH ADA DUA TANGAN. Belum eksiden putus tangan lagik.
-STEVE CLARK MASIH HIDUP. Hensem eh dekni.. aku suka dia tapi kaki botol rabak nye kot.
dan 
-PHIL COLLEN MASIH PAKAI BAJU. Geli siak aku tengok dia sekarang. Sebab tu aku tak mau gi tengok Def Leppard main, buat apa aku bayar tiket, abis tu aku geli tengok Phil Collen tak pakai baju.
OK aku tak kesah orang lain ok aku akan bayar tiket -, Lovehunters tak nak pakai baju, aku alrite, HIGH-ON FIRE memang trademark frontman tak pakai baju berpeluh cam mandi gitu, tapi seronok, 
aku berharap dapat tengok High On Fire main lagi sekali, giler babi laju dorang live 3 piece dan gerek nak mampos style heavy metal dorang.
antara band paling terkejut beruk kan aku ni band la.
aku cuma random je tengok apa band ni masa nak tunggu Slayer main satu masa dahulu, sekali tu makkao!! thorbaik.
anyway, balik kepada cerita,
tapi kalau Def Leppard Phil Collen tak pakai baju? Muntah Hijau. haha.

Its a nice read above when Phil Willis got fired during the recordings, and how Phil Collen was brought in.

Pyromania. Deluxe Edition.
Always got the cassette tape, never the CD.
So its time to upgrade to CD and why not the Deluxe Edition.
Deluxe Edition has the Pyromania album remastered
and there is a wonderful 2nd CD of 15 live songs from a 1983 show in LA Forum.

2 songs from Through The Night, 6 songs from High N Dry and 6 from Pyromania. Plus a cover of Travelling Band.

THE 2nd CD is simply worth the reason to purchase this edition. Its so rocking and showing how awesome Def Leppard first 3 albums were.

Anyway, I always love Slang, and I had make a comparison of the original release of Slang Double CD version with the acoustic live 2nd cd, and also the fabulous Slang Deluxe Edition, again a double cd with songs previously unreleased that was as good as anything on the Slang album.

Anyway.. The news is that Iron Maiden is releasing the continuation of the HEAVYWEIGHT 180gram BLACK Vinyl.
The First Eight albums already have the "supposedly" box, but IT DID NOT FIT EVERYTHING!!
as usual Maiden being Maiden, always things got screwed up,
although they won acclaim by everyone for the way they sell tickets for 2017 UK Tour, with almost all tickets directly go to fans with the cheap official prices. (me included, hurray!!)
(LIKE I SAY HOW AM I WILLING TO PAY MONEY TO SEE METALLICA IN FRONT SECTION IN SINGAPORE WHEN ITS EQUAL TO SEE MAIDEN UPFRONT AT ABOUT 5 SHOWS?? EVEN COUNT TO LOGISTICS AND FLIGHT, HOW CAN METALLICA BE SO EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO IRON MAIDEN?)
which now Metallica is having problems with EUROPEAN fans for the 2017 European Tour where lots of tickets are ending up at the wrong hands, and not directly to the fans at cheaper official prices.

So, I am not going to buy all the vinyls.
Money for personal entertainment and personal earthly pleasures have to be carefully manouvered for maximum 666/666 satisfaction.
My strategy right now is to see my favourite band or bands live.
If I live longer, and my favourite band/bands are retired,
and thats when I start buy more of their re-released items.
I will maybe slowly buy one at a time. LOL!!

But right now,
I JUST WANT THE BOX first!! Thats all. LOL!!
I can collect this version vinyl albums slowly next few years, or wait till they retire. LOL!!
So the box, if you want it, it will come with NPFTD and FOTD albums.

TAK PENTING (ayat nak sedapkan hati). lain kali pun boleh beli, aku rather save nak tengok dorang main seberapa boleh, selagi nyawa dikandung badan, selagi dorang boleh main sama2 enam orang ni.
Tapi sapa tak tahu, untuk bulan 5 nanti, dalam kotak tu untuk rilisan bulan May ialah ada dua album, NPFTD dan FOTD. yang lagi belen bulan 6, dan bulan 7.
(remasters 2015 yang sezaman waktu dorang buat untuk Itunes Remasters Khas pendengar Itunes tu kot?) So aku expect sound baik sikit. hahaha. Tapi aku tak harap,

I think they are going to rehearse soon, and I am sure Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson are confirming the setlist for the 2017 shows.
I hope no change. The pacing was perfect and the selection awesome.

P.S - Phil Collen is a turn-off for me being bare-bodied and with all that muscle.

I had used my handphone to tape some videos from the new Anthem - Blazing Faith Revisited Deluxe Edition while watching them on the TV screen.

They are Pain (live on the Akio solo portion), Love Of Hell (live version) , Turn Back To The Night & Rock N Roll Stars (live in the studio versions) 

Dont ask me to rip the blue ray disc because I dont know how, and I think its wrong? LOL!!

If Anthem had been more popular in the rest of the world, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A WORLDWIDE SLOW ROCK HIT!!! the verse, the break, the chorus, the melodies and what lyrics I can understand in English.. EVERYTHING FROM START TO FINISH... is simply beautiful even though I dont understand most of the song as its mostly Japanese.. HAHA.

Breathe A Sigh two-part cd singles

My re-listening and re-discovery of Slang made me realise how good that album was.
Add to it, the release of The Slang Deluxe Edition with a total of 30 songs really got me excited to explore more on Def Leppard circa 1996.

So lets begin with their live shows and songs played especially how the songs from the Slang album was translated when played live.
A good starting reference will be both cd singles of Breathe A Sigh part 1 and part 2 from 1996.

Both singles had a total of 6 live songs taken from that Slang tour.
The highlight are of course the FOUR songs from the Slang original album that was played live on that tour which is Deliver Me, Slang, All I Want Is Everything and Work It Out. (Older songs Another Hit And Run and Rock Rock made up the rest.)

These 6 songs seems recorded in North America before Def Leppard hits Europe for that tour.

A check on the setlist from that era indicates, Deliver Me, All I Want Is Everything, Slang and Work It Out were the new songs played by Def Leppard each night on average.

I hope to hunt down some very good live recording audio bootlegs from this Slang tour if I got the chance.

A very interesting info I discovered on both the singles inlet is this

Seems the live songs that were the bsides were recorded direct to DAT without any remixing done to the original tracks because the band like the sound and vibe.

In my own opinion, a fan of any band or act, that with the right equipments "SMUGGLED" into the show, and in the right "position", can capture the right vibe, very good audio and everything nice of that show better than any OFFICIAL LIVE RELEASE with all the edits, cuts, adjustments and (SHOCK!!HORROR!!!) overdubs done in studios.

So that is one of the reason its always a thrill and fun to listen to a fans recording.
Myself, I dont have the proper equipments to really tape a show, so the shows I record is solely for my own happiness and listening pleasure, but I will continue to tape, except for one act, Iron Maiden, because my excitement is too overwhelming LOL!!!


For anyone interested, this is my take on the Slang Deluxe Edition compared to the original double cd Slang which comes with the Live In Singapore acoustics.

If I got a chance, I will talk-cock more on the Slang era, there is still some good songs from that era that is still missing from the Deluxe Edition, but fortunately found on some singles from that time.

Def Leppard Slang Deluxe Edition double cd (2013) - In Comparison with original Slang double cd (1996)

        I finally got my hands on the game-changing Def Leppard Slang Deluxe Edition double cds.
For the past week, while walking and on board public transportation, the 30 songs that made up Slang Deluxe Edition entertains me. Maximum overdrive on the headphones...

The Slang Deluxe Edition double cd side by side with the original Slang double cd of which the 2nd cd that was the Def Leppard Live Accoustic at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore.

        When Slang first came out, it is a bit of weirdness for me. Anticipation was high, the FIRST proper studio album with Vivian "HolyDiverLastInLineSacredHeart" Campbell. But then, the album cover was weird, the Def Leppard familiar pointy point logo is gone, and Slang cursive letters, with a shadow of what looks like a lady, and a star on her forehead, is actually a warning that I will be confused listening to this album. Maybe Def Leppard grew up on this album, or maybe its their personal life problems that influenced this album.

- Some songs are still recognisable as Def Leppard like All I Want Is Everything, which by the way got the most humble lines of " its hard to hold your head up, when you're kneeling down to pray".
- For me there are some fantastic haunting and darker songs that I really like and gives me the shivers - Pearl of Euphoria, Deliver Me, Breathe A Sigh and Blood Runs Cold. Very unusual songs for Def Leppard to make, but I think among their best.
- But there are moments and songs where for me Def Leppard is trying to sound a bit similar to what's trendy then in the early and mid 90s. Yes, quite a  miserable era for rock and metal music that I know and like.

We have to look quite closely to compare the difference between the artworks covers of the original Slang in 1996 and 2013 of Deluxe Edition.

The original cover's lady's face is not so clear, the stars on the foreheads are different and there is what look like binary numbers on the original artwork.

        Years later, rediscovering this album and giving some of the songs that I am not keen in the album another chance, then I realised I like it better, a lot better. The faster songs are actually great, not the usual Def Leppard that I grow up on, but still awesome.
the exotic, land of India intro sounding Turn To Dust, the Vivian Campbell written Work It Out, the rocking Gift Of Flesh, and even Slang really compliments the haunting songs that I mentioned earlier.

        I think as years past, this album really grows on me and I think Slang is now my FAVOURITE Def Leppard ALBUM ever. Now with the release of this Deluxe Edition, it seems to cement Slang position for me. I am in the progress of collecting Def Leppard releases from around the Slang period. There are some songs written and recorded during that period which is not found in this deluxe edition. Plus, some live versions of some songs from this album. Will continue about Slang era period next time ok...

ok what have we got the extras that is not on the original SLANG album in this deluxe edition??

- Move With Me Slowly - previously available on Japanese pressing of Slang.

- A Few Bsides from Slang era and also EUPHORIA era ( Euphoria was the next album after Slang, and it got that most POPTASTIC song from Def Leppard - Promises.)
this includes Can't Keep Away From The Flame which first appears on Vault Japanese Pressing.

          There is youtube footage of Def Leppard did this song accoustic in Japan, I guess maybe due to it originally a Japanese only song for Vault.

- A few drafts versions of which the final results appear on Slang album..

You have some completely differently titled songs like Raised Your Love which then evolved into the song Slang, BLACK TRAIN that becomes Gift OF Flesh, also draft of songs with the same title but noticeably different from the final product.

- You also have some rough mixes of some songs..

- But also there is one most sweet song called ALL ON YOUR TOUCH (2012 revisit). I think this song was never released in any form before?? Superb song. 

Plus a few other songs that made up 30 songs altogether. 

This deluxe release has no lyrics anyway, just photos and informations..

The original Slang has lyrics on the booklet.

If you like Def Leppard from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, this is a superb release.

NOW I GOT TO GIVE " X " ANOTHER CHANCE. Except for the beautiful Long Long Way To Go which I think is one of Def Leppard's best sentimental song ever, I am still trying to accept the album. LOL!!

i just want to say listening to Slang I forget Rick Allen got only one arm....
