Dio - Dream Evil (Japanese SHMCD Deluxe 2CD Cardboard Sleeves Mini Lp Version)

Hello and Salam Sejahtera Shiny Happy People.
As usual, a bit of introduction in my Disrespectful Market Bazaar Malay language,
before moving on and on.. on and on.... in my Broken English language.

Firstly its sad to reflect that TWO members from this Dream Evil lineup are now no more. 
But their music lives on and on.. on and on...both heaven and hell times in our lives.

Album Dream Evil dari kumpulan Dio ni, ialah dari segi sentimental value - album kegemaran aku dari Dio.

Segala nye terbaik. Setiap lagu, ada lagu yang menusuk jiwa, ada lagu yang aku simpan dalam hati untuk aku gunakan hadapi cabaran setiap hari sebagai inspirasi, dari dulu sampai sekarang aku suka tengok dan carik2 apa2 lagi aku boleh intepretasi dari lukisan album cover untuk Dream Evil ni jugak haha.

Apapun,

Kalau dari segi ALBUM TERBAIK sepanjang zaman kumpulan Dio, aku akan pilih Dream Evil dan Last In Line.
Aku tak boleh pilih antara ni dua dari segi Album Terbaik kumpulan Dio. Ni dah bagus aku kurangkan jadi dua. Kadang2 aku fikir Lock Up The Wolves pun terbaik jugak. haha.. 

Serious berbual, untuk aku album Holy Diver macam...  best la jugak, tapi tak sebest beberapa album Dio yang lain. Tapi ni masing2, kan. Untuk aku album Holy Diver serupa hit & miss gitu, ada beberapa lagu gerek nak mampos, tetapi tak konsisten la satu album pada halwa telinga dan selera aku.

Jadi ni ialah remastering album Dream Evil tahun 2012/2013 gitu dan untuk pasaran Jepun, sama jugak pasaran barat ada versi 2cd, tapi rilisan Jepun yang aku ada ni sangat istimewa bungkusan dan segala isi dalam dia.

Akhir sekali, aku pernah tunjuk kat blog ni.. Tour Book untuk Dio Dream Evil World Tour.
Kat dalam tu, dah cetak nama MALAYSIA besar2. Atau Kuala Lumpur? nanti aku gi carik kat blog belakang2.
Maknanya masa planning untuk buat World Tour Dream Evil, Dio macam dah confirm gitu sebab tu dah cetak dalam Program Book Dream Evil World Tour.

So this is the CUTE, AWESOME, FABULOUS, BEAUTIFUL Japanese Pressing Version of the Remastered Dream Evil Deluxe 2cd version that comes as a SHM-CD format,
- both cds have their separate Cardboard Sleeves in the style of a Mini-Lp.
Also among all the inlets, and a stylish Mini Lp jacket that supposely replicate the original lp sleeve and lots of other cute things...
The complete full lyrics of every song from Dream Evil album is also attached.
And as usual, a nice obi strip and other stuffs.

Yes, the SHM-CD Hi-fidelity CD is transparent to me as I treat as a normal CD (LOL!!!), but as usual Japanese Pressings and Japanese Versions Packagings of cds are always a feast for the eyes.

THIS packaging is a beauty.

Anyway to the album itself.

DREAM EVIL album - what can I say of the nine songs in this album from these gentlemen of the Dream Evil lineup. - (Ronnie James Dio/ Craig Goldy(Goldie in some prints)/ Jimmy Bain/ Vinny Appice/ Claude Schnell)

- Every song is stupendous. 
- Every song is full of great memories. 
- Every song is an inspiration.
- And certainly this album has some of the most beautiful lyrics by Ronnie James Dio.

Sunset Superman could probably the biggest popular song ever by Dio, unfortunately it just remain an album song, and also a B-side.
All The Fools Sail Away - what a spine-tingling delivery by RJD, Brings so much sadness and emotions to me.
Naked In The Rain - I always love this song for whatever reasons? LOL!!! It has everything. Dramatic song.
Faces In The Window - this song grows on me even after so many many years.

and not forgetting other songs like -  Night People, Dream Evil, Overlove etc etc..
but... there is one special song...
I Could Have Been A Dreamer which will forever be my dream song.

This song is like my inner voice rescuing me because I always say in my life, I dedicate 99.9% of my life for how life responsibilities and priorities is supposed to be run...
but just 0.1%, I am in own little world...  a dream land that only exist in my mind, and I try to make it happen LOL!!! (for example - cue Maiden!! Maiden!! Maiden!!!! ) LOL!!!

and this song is like a motto for how I personally want my life to be...

because as the lyrics says "I ALWAYS COULD HAVE BEEN A DREAMER CAUSE DREAMERS NEVER DIE."

The world can put me as much challenges in life, and as long as I could dream. I know I can make things better for whos and whats important for me in life. 


Anyway, Vivian Campbell is on this deluxe version,
as the song HIDE IN THE RAINBOW is included. Vivian Campbell plays on that song.

The second cd also features the incredible performance of DIO AT DONINGTON PARK Monsters Of Rock 1987. It must have been amazing to be there with the songs played, and some medley surprises that includes Temple Of The King.

Dio was 2nd from top before Headliners - Bon Jovi.

Metallica, WASP, Anthrax and CINDERELLA were below Dio.

This was the show when during Bon Jovi performance Bruce Dickinson and I think Paul Stanley join in and Bruce saying something like Maiden going to play Donington 1988.

And basically, another of the lots of reasons why Donington is to me a special place and its a life-long mission really. LOL!!!

And I want to try to make it there it again this year. I hope. LOL!!

The Ritchie Blackmore Story - Deluxe Edition Hard Cover Coffee Book with 2 dvds and 2 cds review.

Writting this from memory..
I am in a bit of rush....  So pardon the mess of this posting...

First a sample photos from the huge book..

One of my fave photo is Ritchie Blackmore on the left photo...

I grew up in a kampong (village), I cannot even speak fuckin English, and I was little boy at religious study school, and the elder boys are coming to the classes having cassette tape players recorders smuggled in their bags..

Inside the cassette recorders are Rainbow live caseettes tapes, and imagine a 7 year old kid being told - This song is called KILL THE KING.

It was frightening, and it was scary but its the greatest thrill ever and the songs and performances are so magical.

Disclaimer - later I realised the song is about Chess and playing the game. LOL!!!
Clever Ronnie James Dio is all I can say as a grown-up now LOL!!!

And then I heard Deep Purple's Highway Star, and I remember writting down that song lyrics to learn English when I was in primary school... 

Then I discovered Iron Maiden, And my life change forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOL!!! (laughter with a bit of Hollywood movie - Satanic style for techno dramatic effect).

So Ritchie Blackmore, whatever his bands are got a big influence and the soundtrack of my life and seriously I really love Shadow Of The Moon album... an amazing debut by him and Candice.

- I watch both dvds quite a number of days back once each and while doing household chores so my eyes are not on sight with the tv screen many times...LOL!! ,
- been listening to the rips of both cds once each while on public transport of noisy buses and trains and while walking on the streets so lots of distractions too LOL!!.

This is my review and opinion on one of the best release for 2015
The RITCHIE BLACKMORE STORY DELUXE EDITION, which comes in a huge hard-cover picture book format near the size of a LP record album
It has more than 60 pages on it of some text and lots of nice photos..

It has a total of 4 discs - 2 dvds and 2 cds.
- A DVD of the Ritchie Blackmore Story which is fabulous and a mine of information and knowledge if you are a Ritchie Blackmore / Deep Purple / Rainbow / Blackmore's Night fan, all these straight from the mouth of Ritchie Blackmore. Featuring interesting interviews with other people too.. Total run time of more than 2hrs.
- A DVD which I think is the full version of whats recorded Rainbow Live In Budokan Japan 1984 with one of Japanese Symphonic Orchestra (to play Difficult To Cure BEETHOVEN's Ninth)
- Two CDs which is the audio of the above Japan 1984 show.

So on the first DVD, which is over 2 hours long, with additional footages of bonus materials of extra interviews...
Ritchie Blackmore himself, I think does he ever gives a interview on this scale??? LOL!!

Ritchie Blackmore at his house? or an inn?? LOL!!! theres'alway beer in front of him LOL!!
sometimes with Candice besides him giving additional comments..

- He was talking about his parents, how since at age of 5 he never smile in front of camera if he dont want to smile even when his mother ask him to smile
- His education at school at with teachers
- His father, his cycles to learn guitar
- Blackmore explains about why people dont like him , terrified of him, hated him, or whatever because he is COLD? I think his answer is very logical and I think everyone is also guilty of how he presents himself in public or while walking into a room.
- Blackmore talks about his early days - he talks about how he had seen Robert Plant in Birmingham, how he had worked with Jimmy Page and all these before Led Zeppelin was formed.
- Blackmore talk about how Deep Purple was formed and how the band got its name (Its Ritchie Blackmore's suggestion that was accepted by the band to use that name).
- How Mark I change to Mark II, how and why he wanted Ian Gillan to sing for Deep Purple on whats become the Mark II classic line up.
- Why and how he got into problems with Ian Gillan too LOL!!
- Guitar demonstration of how he breaks up Rickie Nelson' Summertime into Black Night and how JIMI HENDRIX create Hey Joe. LOL!!
- Talks about In Rock, Machine Head, Fireball.
- How he is not confident of David Coverdale but then someone says David Coverdale is cute.
- Setting up explosives on his amps, breaking up his guitars, setting fires on stuffs, pranks.....!!! lots of pranks!!!
- How he sets up Rainbow
- HOW HE AUDITION COZY POWELL!!!!!!!! and what Cozy Powell did to get Blackmore's vote.
- How and why Ronnie James Dio actually left / was asked to leave Rainbow??
I AM SHOCKED at Blackmore's story...!!! LOL!!

- Graham Bonnet, Graham Boneet hair style LOL!! THIS IS FUNNY.. He wants to beat up Graham Bonnet on stage at the first Monsters Of Rock in Donington actually LOL!!!!!!
but then he will go to jail again, he have been to jail in Austria for seriously injuring a security staff who had manhandled a young girl who were just cheering for Rainbow on stage.

His efforts to escape the arms of the law that night was in vain LOL!!! Very Funny.
- How he got Joe Lynn Turner for Rainbow..
- How Perfect Strangers album was...
- How did he got problems with Ian Gillan again and he wants Gillan kicked out of Deep Purple. (I never knew it was because Ritchie Blackmore has come to a conclusion Ian Gillan voice is gone, or was it an excuse for other reasons).
- How did Joe Lynn Turner joins Deep Purple
- Ian Gillan return to the band after Joe Lynn Turner's one album and how Blackmore demands a big sum of money so he  thought they cannot pay him so hcan get out of the band but the management still pays him and he's trapped to play with Gillan.
- Rainbow 90s
- How he meet Candice, how Candice can write lyrics, and how and why he plays Medieval music...

The interviews are funny, seriously funny, and interesting, and very very informative and I think he is fair..
Its plain he dont mince words talking about Ian Gillan voice, but he did share some funny stories of Ian Gilllan which may not be so funny to Ian Gillan LOL!!!!

His interview section when he talks about Cozy Powell suddenly telling the rest of  Rainbow that his favourite band was.... ABBA.
Its like blasphemy on his face LOL!!!
But then he said "Mine Too...".

All of the above is very amazing as its all described by Ritchie Blackmore himself on interview.. So its really fascinating and seriously no argument there on behalf of how Blackmore sees this things.

note to myself - I think everybody loves Abba so its no big surprise its Cozy Powell favourites and maybe the man in black too, but personally I think Roxette is better Swedish export LOL!!! (guess what I have on my mp3 player for this period for me listening while on trains, buses, and walking?? Roxette's crashhh booommm bangg album LOL!!!)

These are some other people in the interviews...

Steve Lukather (TOTO) - oooohhh man, the TOTO guy has great things to say and I think he was saying he wished he had written SOTW. LOL!!!!
and then you have the two big names of rock magazines - Malcome Dome and Chris Welch.
You have JOE SATRIANI - and his interviews were brilliant and he talks about how Deep Purple wants him to replace Ritchie Blackmore when he left the band before Japan tour 1993 or something.
- Steve Vai in in there.

Was it Steve Vai or Joe Satriani who shows their first guitar on the wall is just because Blackmore use the same guitar LOL!!
- Phil Collen (DEF LEPPARD)  is in there and on the bonus features of the DVD, Phil Collen was on his guitars for some Blackmore style demonstrations...
- Roger Glover was in there I think?
- Some older the Late Jon Lord interviews..
- STEVE MORSE is in the dvd, he is not on the story but on the bonus and he shows about Perfect Strangers etc...
- Joe Lynn Turner has lots of nice hilarious stories
- Graham Bonnet was amazing and very humble on his interviews... and he has nice things to say about Cozy Powell too.
I think Graham Bonnet segment was very nicely spoken. And yes he did says about his call-up to sing for Rainbow LOL!!!! and he did share a story about Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow too.
- Brian May (QUEEN) has lots to say.. - Ritchie Blackmore will be remembered as wild and untamed. How true these words are.
- Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)  is in there..
- Gene Simmon (KISS) is in there and rightly so when he says it needs people like him to tell about Ritchie Blackmore who is maybe the most mysterious, full of attitude and a never-care-attitude greatest rock influence ever.
- Candice Night has some things to say and she make it clear Blackmore never listen to anyone.
So it answers the question Blackmore's Night was never her influence or suggestion. She just follows. I think she says Blackmore was the captain, but then she re-says she is co-captain.
I think there are a number of other people in there...  Unfortunately So sorry no Bruce Dickinson who loves Deep Purple LOL!! Bruce will talk too much and the dvd will be 4 hrs? LOL!!!!!

I really think, if anyone has a bit of like for Ritchie Blackmore, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night and all the family tree which is like an amazing family tree if all these bands lineups and members are linked together...

This is simply an amazing DVD... I actually forgot a lot of things I think, so go watch it yourself..

and I kind of like it on the thank you list - Ritchie Blackmore thanks Steve Morse too...

Again I want to say, I really like it Steve Morse is with Deep Purple because it brings so much new life and discipline I think, and I guess Don Airey is the only man who can take over Late Jon Lord.

OK, as I got the Deluxe Edition so it comes with the Live In Japan 1984 set.
The DVD and 2 cds.
Joe Lynn Turner years.. and majority of the songs are from Joe Lynn Turner era of Rainbow.
BUDOKAN.
The cameras are ok for a 1984 film LOL!!
Not much audience reactuibs shot but they can be heard loud LOL!!.
The symphony orchestra part was brilliant...

Love the extras on the interviews..
It was laughing out loud funny with David Rosenthal, Joe Lynn Turner, Roger Glover and Chuck Burgi being interviewed for the Japanese fans..
It was simply amazing and shows us how life is so beautiful back then...

AND NO, NO RITCHIE BLACKMORE!!! he was not at the interview... which is really another juicy way to show how problematic and attitude problem he is LOL!!!

And that is to say how brilliant this collection is, as at last we got everything from the man himself. And I think on the interview he sounds funny.
Ritchie Blackmore is a mystery...

I really wish I can be there in Lorely Germany 2016 though I got the physical tickets anything can just happened LOL!!.
I think it will be amazing to see his 2016 formation of Rainbow playing Rainbow and Deep Purple songs..
20 years after he last played pure Rock N Roll of these two bands style.

This is Your Life (Japanese Version Pressing) - A Tribute to Ronnie James Dio

WARNING with all the passion that I sometimes spew on this blog - This is going to be a long post with lots of photos from the very pretty Japanese-pressing version of the Ronnie James Dio Tribute called This Is Your Life which is arranged by Wendy Dio. 
The Japanese version comes on obi-wrapped at the corner digipak with a booklet that is different as has extra info on the two extra bands (how can I resist Dio Disciple's contribution for the Japanese version) and also another extra booklet written in Japanese plus lyrics in English. Its very nice packaging.
I am very very very excited and really cannot wait for this album release.
 I really adore Ronnie James Dio, its like his voice is in ears my whole life... to see him sings live is an amazing experience, I still got shivers of the memory of him singing "Falling Off The Edge Of The World".  It so bleedingly touching..

 I'm the Man On The Mountain, The Man On The Silver Mountain.

Whether whole bands or individual members of Scorpions, Rainbow, Dio, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Whitesnake etc etc, taking part is already amazing in this tribute but when Metallica is reported to be taking part in this tribute, I think the status of this tribute cd change into World News as Metallica is such a huge attraction world wide.

I have never been so excited about anything Metallica for many years. But when they say they got a problem even choosing a song from Rainbow Rising (which I think is one of my favourite all time albums, and maybe one of the most influential heavy rock and metal album till now) and they decide to choose a four songs medley of KILL THE KING (Kill The King was a little late during Rising studio recordings so that's why it end up on "LLRNR" album but its already played as the opening song during Rising Tour) /TAROT WOMAN/ STARGAZER/ LIGHT IN THE BLACK, I was so happy. 
I was never this happy with regards to Metallica since.... LOL!! maybe Bleeding Me S&M version LOL!! Its almost UNBELIEVABLE Metallica is going to play this four songs as a Medley on a Ronnie James Dio tribute album. OK enough about Metallica participation now let me hear each song and talk cock about it... 

Intro (some Tony Carey please.. LOL!!)

Ronnie James Dio voice whether for Rainbow, or Black Sabbath, or DIO is the soundtrack of my whole life, since I was a little ignorant vilage boy,  So I am very excited on this release with some of the big names of music.

My only wish was if RITCHIE BLACKMORE for once, just for once, throwing aside all feelings or whatever... do or play or contribute something too.
In addition, I think this is not only a tribute to Ronnie James Dio, but also to those humongous names in music like Ritchie Blackmore, Cozy Powell, Toni Iommi etc etc..

So on the above three photos, you have notes, stories, reflections on Ronnie and also this tribute cd written by Malcome Dome, Koh Sakai, Eddie Trunk, by musicians who participate in this tribute and also Japanese pressing booklet has the extra notes by Tim Ripper Owens on Dio Disciples participation.



ok lets begin to the songs that colours my whole life!!! I am listening to each song and then just write it on this blog...

1. Neon Knights - ANTHRAX. Joey Belladonna is simply fabulous. Love to see him play drums on YouTube with his own band playing clubs doing covers. I think at Ronnie's memorial service he sang Man On The Silver Mountain??
I hope one day Joey Belladonna will personally record a full album of Tribute To Journey. He is the best singer Journey never have. Neal Schon should have chosen Joey Belladonna to replace Steve Perry in Journey. 
2. Last In Line - TENACIOUS D. A heart-rendering start by Jack Black. IS THAT A RECORDER SOLO?!!. Very Rainbow Eyes'ish. I wish Jack Black had followed Ronnie Dio live version style last verse of "we may never!never!never!never!never!never!never!never! come home!!".. 
3. The Mob Rules - ADRENALINE MOB. Over the top. Well..my opinion anyway..
4. Rainbow In The Dark - COREY TAYLOR. Do I contradict myself if I say I like to see Stone Sour on YouTube but when I was at Donington Park and on the first night Slipknot was playing the main stage headlining First Day of Download Festival 2013,  and I decide to exit, go back to my lodge place to eat and sleep because I find them live B.O.R.I.N.G, Sorry..., anyway nice version this one.
5. Straight Through The Heart - HALESTORM. Rocking female voice!!. Love this version. OK, I got to take note to surf the YouTube and check out this Halestorm band more. "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!" I really love this version on second listen now!!
6. Starstruck - MOTORHEAD with SAXON'S BIFF BYFORD. Of course a 100% like for this version.
7. Temple Of The King - SCORPIONS. I am so scared to listen to this version. As a small village boy, before I discovered this techno trance breakdancers group called Iron Maiden, it was the Scorpions and Rainbow which were my dosage of introduction to the wonderful magical world of music.
So I was listening to this and I was like just gazing away... Scorpions performing Temple Of The King... WHO COULD HAVE IMAGINE THAT???

8. Egypt (The Chains Are On) - DORO. Why oh Why?? I love this Doro version but its a very old cover version!!. Ok maybe not many people have heard of this song thru all these years but Doro should still sing a new song. I would like to listen to Naked In The Rain by Doro version! Now imagine that!!
9. Holy Diver - KILLSWITCH ENGAGE - Another old one released a few years back. Its nice to re-listen to this version.
10. Catch The Rainbow - GLENN HUGHES, craig goldy, rudy sarzo, scott warren, simon wright (basically lineup of Dio Disciples band). Its so Romantic!! This song has always been so Romantic. Even when OPETH plays this song live, and I watch it on YouTube for me its still so romantic LOL!!!
Anyway, the start of this song, its the intro of As Long As Its Not About Love from Magica. Craig Goldy's album anyway.
11. I - JIMMY BAIN/ROWAN ROBERTSON/Oni Logan/Brian Tich - Jimmy Bain plays with RJD in Rainbow and Dio, Rowan Robertson is introduced in Locked Up The Wolves. This is one of my most favourite songs on this tribute cd on the first listen.

12. Man On The Silver Mountain - ROB HALFORD/doug aldrich,vinny appice, jeff pilson, scott warren  - TOTAL HAPPINESS! I am smiling from ear to ear. Exciting!! the way this song was meant to be.
13. Rising Medley (A Light In The Black/ Tarot Woman/ Stargazer/ Kill The King) - METALLICA. NINE-MINUTES-OF-HEAVY-METAL-HEAVEN!!!. Oh My Goodness, its beyond my expectation!! Everything is so perfect, LOL!!! This is James best singing since ...AJFA!!! "oohh I see his face!!" haha, James will never be Ronnie but he is still damn marvellous here! hahaha.... Is there a video for this recording...?? OOHHH!!! Kill The King is ROCKING!!!! This is the Metallica that I so love last time!! Fuck I am typing this as I am listening, and now they revert back to Light In The Black... SURPRISE!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!! and ooohhh what a dramatic Kill The King ending!! What a full of twist medley!!

Ok, I don't really follow Metallica's current developments, yes just saw them last year though left before Seek And Destroy so there is still public transport LOL!!, and yes like some of you am also eagerly waiting for the coming Helsinki show bootleg just for the historic Frayed End Of Sanity request, but listening to this... I am so happy. Listening to this Medley, I got to say I love Lars, James, Kirk and even Rick?Rob?? or John or something?? the bassist HAHAHA. I am so happy!! ok listen to it one more time....WOOHOOO!!!
14. This Is Your Life - \m/   \m/ - I dont really understand the 90s trendy industrial revolution of Angry Machine album LOL!!!, even till now. But this is the last song on that album. Ronnie and just a piano. This is a very sad song. A very poignant song. Yes, if my wishes, if my dreams have been an eagle, how would I fly?? Fuck I had surely fly to outer space with the wishes and dreams I had!! LOL!!. Never mind, I am still happy with my shares in life. I am a Muslim, I believe in what God has for me,  and this is my life... though I just got to keep on trying my best to catapult onwards and onwards and onwards!! and let it be Magical....!!!
15. Heaven And Hell - STRYPER - The most holy heaven and unholy hell choices for both band and song LOL!!! A nice cover..
16. Stand Up And Shout - DIO DISCIPLES - Craig Goldy is in and out of Dio thru the years so its nice to listen to him with Dio Disciples with Dio's final line-up plus some well-known singers.

OK end of the album, and back to the real world LOL!.
I have completed listening, this album will be on my portable music player for quite some time to accompany me while walking and taking public transport.

ALL IN ALL, this is very very very nice tribute album. I really really love it.

p.s - Maybe one day I will take a photo of the collection of CDs that I have which are Tributes to Rainbow/Dio. The Germans and Japanese ones are so amazing... 
oohh and they dare to perform Rainbow Eyes these Germans and Japanese rockers!! LOL!! But I really like the voice of the speed-up Ritchie Blackmore's wife singing this song on one of Blackmore's Night album too although she will never ever be as good as Ronnie James Dio version. 
Its so bitter sweet song...a heartbreaking song that fits Ronnie's voice completely... ok I will stop now.
